Re: Jbob's 40 Breeder

yes, they jumped out. 3 green chromis and a green clown goby thought there would be better surf on the carpet. i'm getting a grade A from woodstock after the holidays, i cant wait! i had the tank drilled at a lfs. i wanted to keep my plumbing simple and this overflow gave me the most room inside the tank.
thanks for all the nice words everyone.

Re: Jbob's 40 Breeder

ok update.....its been a while and alot has changed. a few small things and a couple huge things. my picasso jumped....so i built a mesh cover and bought a mccoskers wrasse to try it out...j/k but i did buy a mccoskers. hopefully the top will keep him in. i moved some coral around and i also got a serpant star. i'm starting to get HA, so i've decided i'll be getting a reactor pretty soon. other than those things the tank isn't doing to bad. heres some pics.

Re: Jbob's 40 Breeder

Glad to hear you were able to make a top for the tank! Good going! Hopefully, you will not loose any more fish to jumping.

Nice design. What did you use to frame it?

Re: Jbob's 40 Breeder

i used a window frame kit from home depot. its was pretty easy to put together. the little corners aren't perfectly square so it makes it a little harder if you have things you hafta go around.

Re: Jbob's 40 Breeder

I like the window frame kit idea. I have a glass top on mine. Not the best for the coral but it does keep the fish in. I will take a look for a kit the next time I am in home depot. Thanks for the idea and picture.

I like the idea for the top much better than the eggcrate I am currently using.

Re: Jbob's 40 Breeder

well the top couldn't keep the mccoskers in the tank. and i got nudi's from somewhere. so i went and picked up a canary wrasse. on the up side i've picked up some pretty nice frags. here's some pics.

i cleaned the tank right after i took these pics. i woulda taken more pics but the water was pretty cloudy.

i just picked up the red cap and the sun coral today.

Re: Jbob's 40 Breeder

Your tank looks good, but you have a nutrient problem as evidenced by the algae taking over the overflow and the coral in some pics. What kinda water do you use? How do you feed? Also, do you have any nutrient export/control? A good cleanup crew would also help out. Sometimes lawnmower blennies can work wonders,

And how old are the bulbs? Do you still have some chaeto in the sump still?
