Michael's New Tank

Well, I just spoke with Chris from Einstein Aquatics.
I will be forking over the Credit Card # this evening. So in a few weeks I will be in the E -Club

I am getting the Elos System 70 (Black Stand) and the AquaPlanet II (250 watt version)

And I will be ordering the Elos Mini, in a few fews as well.

I dropped way down in size (225 gallon to a 55 gallon)
but have jumped WAY UP in QUALITY

I will start a tank setup thread as soon as I get it.
This is going to be an awesome little tank (I hope)
It will house three fish (all angels....scary isnt it) and a few select SPS corals. I want a few very large colonies (that I will grow out from Frags). The tank will be bare bottom.

~Michael

Re: Michael's New Tank

Sounds good Michael. The Elos is a fine built tank. No my taste for the money but all the same you cannot find better in glass. Personally i would go acrylic with Envision but to each his own.
I look forward to seeing your new build come to life!

Very cool!
I am sorry the big tank has to go but sounds like you are going to have a fabulous smaller tank.

Re: Michael's New Tank

I already have Jose a great home. He will get to stay at my other house (megan's) Her tank has been doing so well. It has awesome growth, perfect water, and is probably of all the tanks Ive had, my favorite. She really does a great job. She has been wanting a BSJF. but she doesnt just want any BSJF. She has wanted to have Jose in her tank for so long. So I am letting her put him in. He will love it. He will be the biggest fish in the tank. And I think he will enjoy the whole setup.

I am so excited

~Michael

Re: Michael's New Tank

Well, I have everything ordered for the new tank. Well, almost everything. I still have a few things I need, but I am having trouble deciding exactly what I want.
I have the Elos 70 and the Elos APII ordered. I am now trying to decide on which powerheads I will use to stir things up. I had the first version of the Vortech, and I was not happy with it. The thing was so loud.
For my new tank I have been looking at all my options, and I still come back to the Gen 2 Vortech. It will keep wiring out of the tank, plus it will help to keep the clean look of the elos tank. This is going to be a barebottom SPS tank, so I am going to need alot of flow. The return pump that comes with the Elos System is an ehiem 1260 and it pushes 635 GPH.
I am looking into how many vortecs I would want. First off, I need to find out if they have corrected the problems with the old vortec.
Here is what I am considering:
Two MP40W vortecs, and a MP20 vortech. This will give me 8600 Gallons per hour (including the main pump@600gph) I would have a turnover rate of 156 times per hour. I want to keep as much of the detrius suspended as I can. I may even consider three MP40s, then I would have 12,635 gph, a turnover rate of 230 times per hour. I want this tank to have TONS of flow.
Ket me know what is good/bad about this idea.
Thanks
~Michael

Re: Michael's New Tank

Hi Michael!

I love my small 55 gallon tank. I only have 3 fish in it, but they are so up close and personal (and easy to take care of)!

Good luck with the new tank!

Did you give up on the Solaris or just change to a smaller tank and it doesn't fit now?
