Re: My 72g build

Also-She gave me some Rod's food to try, and everyone went CRAZY over it!! Looks like that's what I'm buying next, they were going nuts over it.

Re: My 72g build

I probably will have you do that, I will get with you, or vise versa the day before you go. They loved it, and that's an easy fix for making feeding simple!

Re: My 72g build

As of today, I have been in the hobby for 1 year! Today is the day we got the 20g setup one year ago. Wooo hoo!

As addicted as I am, I knew it from the start I would be hooked, I bought a 220g before I had the 20!

The 220 still sits empty, but someday, someday!

when are you guys looking to have that 220 gal set up? I've got about a year or so before our house is built. I still have to get the other two 150 gal displays to go with ours.... sigh.. i just want them up and running now!!!

Re: My 72g build

Congratulations on your anniversary!!

Those caps are awesome, just wait til they fill out...WOW!

You definitely have some hair algae. As long as it stays off the sand I actually kind of like it...(shame on me for saying that I know)

And what's this crap about a 220 just sitting around empty?? Let's git-r-done!

Re: My 72g build

HA seems to be at a stand still. (Hopefully/Finally!)

I am feeding the Rod's food that Vicki gave me to try, and also turned my fuge light on to run 24/7. Seems like the chaeto is taking up what nutrients the HA needed (that's the point right haha).

It never dawned on me to turn mine on 24/7, looks like it may be paying off. I am feeding Rod's food every 3 days, and doesn't seem to be effecting/contributing to my HA battle which is a good thing!

I am hoping this is a new turn around for the tank, I have been looking at HA since March... I'm ready for it to leave!

So everyone cross your fingers, I have been harvesting as much as I can daily... it's a lot! That seems to help with the slow growth, or it could be my Sea Hare finally working now that the HA is shorter like Al suggested.

Re: My 72g build

I would so LOVE to get a sea hare, they are my favorite. I don't have enough for them to eat though, maybe I could put one in the turf scrubber?!

Money? What is this you speak of??

Re: My 72g build

I don't know what that term.. Money is, I haven't seen any laying around. Let me know if you see any extra, I'd like to take a look at it!

Sea hares are great, if you were closer we could trade him back and forth when he's done here.... I think the shipping would take a toll on him.

Re: My 72g build

This should probably go into the..Mistakes you've made thread!

PEEE U!

We just got 2 truckloads of firewood, So being us, we throw the wood into the fireplace, first cleaning out the ashes, throwing them into a bucket. We both fall asleep on the couch while the fire is going.

I wake up, asking Jeremy if he messed with the fire while I was sleeping, it smells funny..

He says nope. So I went and got more wood from outside to stack inside, I move the bucket that had the ash in it...Oh SHOOT! The ash was still HOT, oh no, and it was a 5 gallon bucket (we were just using the bucket for today until we got a metal one tomorrow..big mistake)... burnt a hole into our brand new carpet! Thank god we caught it when we did..

Re: My 72g build

HA seems to be at a stand still! Finally I have lowered the temp, turned fuge lights on 24/7 and am only feeding twice a week, still rinsing the food. Seems to be making a difference! Oh and also trimming the HA daily.

Sea hare status--Haven't seen him out and about, I am thinking that he is becoming nocturnal, Jeremy said he saw him the other night with the flashlight, so I am not worried that he died. Lets just say he shouldn't die with the amount of food he has to munch on! Pics tomorrow when lights are back on
