Re: Pics of my 12.5 Gal nano

Looking good! I like your aquascape, nano tanks can be a lot of fun. I've got my suspicions about my emerald crab also. I've banished him to the fuge for now. I'm thinking of getting a rainford's goby to take care of a little hair algae I have instead of the crab.

Re: Pics of my 12.5 Gal nano

Hey does anyone know anything about the feather duster?? I got it in Tuesday and it is curled up, I can't plant him.

does anyone know if it will straighten itself out or will it just stay. the opposite end is not very close to the sand.

Re: Pics of my 12.5 Gal nano

Once the feather duster find him or herself a happy spot, it will straighten up and more of the tube will go down into the sand. We have a couple of the light green ones and they both did that when we first got them.

Re: Pics of my 12.5 Gal nano

OK so I got rid of my stock hood and got a new lighting fixture and some new coral, so here is some updated picts.
Some are blurry, my camera couldn't deside what to focus on, the coral or the million little bubbles put out by the nano skimmer.

1st pic new Yellow colony polyp (supposed to be yellow, but it looks green to me)

2nd pic blue cespitularia, accidently sucked it up into the tube thingy while I was cleaning the tank, but it's OK

3rd pom pom xenia

4th new light, little big, but I love it!!

5th Actinic light. corals fluoresces under it, very cool

please excuse the epoxy, waiting for the coraline algae to cover it.

Ok, regarding the feather duster feeding, all the same above except, multiple more snails, astrea, cerths, some I am not sure of, and 6 hermits. I came to the realization that my clean up crew was lacking!!. Nitrate now 0 (probably because of all the aglae) others param. the same.

corals all softies, button polyp, blue cer. (something or another), and pom pom xenia. Thanks Al

PS i also have cyclopeeze, I don't use very much

Re: Pics of my 12.5 Gal nano

What do you feed with other than cyclopeeze? Honestly I mix a little of that in with my "mush" and feed the corals only once a week. The rest of the week they just get some "left-overs" from the rest of the food.

Usually frozen myasis shrimp (rinsed of coarse), for the 2 fish. I am down to feedings 3 days a week (it was hard, but I did it). sometimes flake food for the clown. and frozen brine on occasion.

not sure what else the wheeler will eat.

Looking good. So how "Bad" was the scraping? Did you get most all of it off that you could?

Hey Al here is the answers to your feather duster question.

THe scraping was quite time consuming, but very successful. the stupid emerald would NOT get out of the rock, so I had to work around him. that was interesting. I am planning on not doing that any time soon again. I had hair algae, green and red slime algae. I am sure from over feeding. (that is because the critters STARE). I need to move them out of my office and then I could ignore them.

I know what you mean. I did the SAME thing right after I set up my office tank. Everyone coming and going wanted to see "Nemo Eat".... finally I just learned to say NO!! Come back tomorrow or maybe even the NEXT day!!
