| Tridacna maxima | Re: Akwar'eum Too I hope I live up to our expectations! I want this to be a terrific tank. It feels like nothing is happening with it although I am working on getting ready for the tank to get here. This morning I built the stand to hold the SW resevoir... ![]() So my water makeup area is pretty much complete now, I just need a few PVC fittings to wrap it up... ![]() Here is the LR curing facility... ![]() There is water in it, but no salt yet. I need some fitting to make it work also. That's my project for the morning. I still have to complete the skimmer to make it truly complete but I am waiting on parts. I think once they get here the skimmer will go quickly. The tank is supposed to ship on the 28th I think...or the 29th... maybe the 27th.. I forget. Anyway, it should be here soon. I have lumber sitting in the yard to build the stand and walls. I want to wait and get the tank in before building walls though. I may go ahead with the stand now since I know how deep I need to build it since I got the sump in place. That's all I've got so far today...

| Smile Maker | Re: Akwar'eum Too Looks like you are making progress to me. You're just doing the things that most people do after their tank is set-up. You'll be way a head of the game when you do get the tank set-up. Then you'll be able to focus strictly on the tank while you fine tune the equipment. |

| Excellent Guesser :D | Re: Akwar'eum Too It's ALL about the prep work. Nice job! Wowsers! Liking the LR curing "facility". Is your WHOLE garage dedicated to aquarium stuff?

| Tridacna maxima | Re: Akwar'eum Too Scott- Yeah, I know I'm making progress, it just doesn't feel like I'll be ready when the tank gets here. I'm trying to balance out doing house stuff to make Gail happy and tank stuff to make me happy! Victor- well, right now, yes, the whole garage is dedicated to tank stuff. That's only until the tank gets here and is installed. Then we close off the garage and a wall goes up dividing it mostly in half. I'll have a man cave (fish room) and Gail will have a Chick Room... notice there is a gas fireplace already installed behind the LR facility. That's hers. We have a crate full of slate tile to go on the floor in her half sitting and waiting in the driveway. Aye yah yaih! the work never ends! I've been in the shop tonight getting my radial arm saw working again...it's ready to go now! I also put up pegboard for my tools. Later I'm going to make flanges for the Beckett while Gail paints the guest bedroom. BTW, we have a comfortable bed for anyone who wants to visit N.E. Ga. You are all welcome in our home!

| Watch this Ma! | Re: Akwar'eum Too We will have to take you up on your offer, Greg! I have an uncle that lives outside of Atlanta and I really want to go see the HUGE aquarium there too. I don't understand how the flow works in your LR curing barrels. It's gravity fed between the barrels but it looks like you have a pretty powerful pump connected to them. What is the flow rate of the pump? How big are the pipes connecting the barrels together?

| Tridacna maxima | Re: Akwar'eum Too In the curing station, the water will go into the top of the far right can and out the bottom into the next can and so on. I have no idea if it will work or not. As Terry said the pump I have connected to it pushes a lot of water (about 1200gph) and the pipes I have connected are 1 1/2 so I know I'll have to throttle back on the pump..maybe even get a smaller one, which I have. Terry, would you post the flow rates again? I promise I will add them to my favorites file! That pump is designated to run the Beckett skimmer and I may have to just circulate the skimmer through the last can and T off from that to go to the far can for total circulation. Heck..I don't know..I'm making this up as I go. If it won't work tell me now before I fill it with rocks!! I got the flanges cut out tonight. Be the fifth one I was getting pretty fast at it. I wouldn't want to do it for a living though. I will drill and tap them and take photos tomorrow. Nighty night!

| Tridacna maxima | Re: Akwar'eum Too No, the garage will be gone. I didn't have one at the other house, so I won't be missing anything. Besides, our truck barely fits in it anyway, and it's a Ford Ranger!
