Re: Varga's 300 Gallon In-Wall Build!!!!!!!!!!!!

wain·scot (wnskt, -skt, -skt)n.1. A facing or paneling, usually of wood, applied to the walls of a room.
2. The lower part of an interior wall when finished in a material different from that of the upper part.

tr.v. wain·scot·ed or wain·scot·ted, wain·scot·ing or wain·scot·ting, wain·scots To line or panel (a room or wall) with wainscoting.

In the old days before we could heat our homes with baseboard and furnaces people relied on the good old fire place. You can imagine how much furnature got moved around between seasons. closer to the fire place and then back for the summer. the walls would get trashed from all this moving so the Chair rail was invented. Then someone decided to take it further and add trim boxes and such to make the wall pretty. Thats when some dude named wain ( ) invented the new wall look.

I would consider using 4x4 instead of 2x4 I did a 300 in the wall & actulayy use 4x6 & 4x4 with extremely strong bracing look @ my clients tanks the 300 in the wall will give you an example.

Re: Varga's 300 Gallon In-Wall Build!!!!!!!!!!!!

Second coat of Epoxy is on!!! Humidity is low tomorrow so I should be able to apply the third and final coat tomorrow night. Glass should be here Thursday at the latest.

still a little worried about the glass being only 3/8" thick but feel a little better since I found this link REEF AQUARIUM FARMING NEWS # 19 p 3

cost break down so far:

Epoxy paint: $100
Plywood: $60
Glass: $350
4 Metal rod top supports $10

I already had all the 2x4's, screws, paint rollers, etc.

Water test Saturday
Hoping to fill it up and run out of the house and go camping otherwise I will be checking on it every 5 minutes

Look at the plywood tank this other guy built:

Re: Varga's 300 Gallon In-Wall Build!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why not go with one 3200gph Dolphin pump?

I shoot for ten times tank size.

Re: Varga's 300 Gallon In-Wall Build!!!!!!!!!!!!

Throtle the excess into the sump. I'm looking at a 3200gph to run everything on my 90, even the skimmer that I will be making.
