Re: Varga's 300 Gallon In-Wall Build!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone

I'm starting to wonder weather it's worth it to run this huge pump just for the skimmer. I think it's going to cost me around $40/mo to run it!!!!

Re: Varga's 300 Gallon In-Wall Build!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say, small is good. I have to mini ASM's on my 110 prop tank. Jack wanted 'bigger', but the little puppies kick it out! with the 2 of the working, they do an awesome job. Little comes in strong. Also, the terminators kick butt on the bigger tanks. I can't afford big pumps for fancy skimmers. Sometimes, cheaper is better. I spent big bucks on my Aqua C's, and they do not do the job. I feel like I wasted a lot of money; however, I know some people swear by them, and if I fooled with them frequently, they worked...sort of. Sorry Aqua C fans. I have had to deal with 2 of them, and not real happy.

Re: Varga's 300 Gallon In-Wall Build!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vicki's right more expensive isnt always better. if you can find a more efficent pump for the job, then i say go that route instead of having wasted power

Re: Varga's 300 Gallon In-Wall Build!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I will get it running for a couple of months and see how it goes.

If my bio-load is super low, I can just run the skimmer maybe every other week?
Right now I have the Naso and 9 one inch fish in there and I think one more 4-5" fish is all I'm going to add. total water volume is 400g

Re: Varga's 300 Gallon In-Wall Build!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a theory, but if you had to choose times to not skim, I would think that more frequent on/off intervals would be better. Just trying to think through it, but I would think that if you left it off for a week, DOCs would build up, then be completely removed when you go on for a week, then build back up, removed etc.

Re: Varga's 300 Gallon In-Wall Build!!!!!!!!!!!!

More consistant skimming that lessens the build up of DOCs is better for livestock, thus the 24/7 normal skimmer operation.

They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
