Re: Varga's 300 Gallon In-Wall Build!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is the black that is now on the tank the two part epoxy paint that you mentioned or does that come later?

This is looking really good and moving along at a good pace...I can hardly sit still!

I like the coast to coast How are you going to water proof it? The teeth look very close and you still need to seal them.

yea, making sure the epoxy coats between each of the teeth will be a pain. i guess thats why he built the tank so prompt because he knew there would be issues like this but you'll be surprised with some of the ideas contractors come up with.

yup the black you see is the first coat of epoxy. 2 more coats with sanding between coats and it should be good to go. 24 hrs between coats.

Re: Varga's 300 Gallon In-Wall Build!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best to dab it in between with a foam brush, if you can, then finish it on the outside with a brush. Do them last when the epoxy starts to thicken and you will get a nice thick coat on them. Foam brush may not work, since the epoxy paint is a hot mix, it may melt the sponge brush. So try it on a piece of scrap first. If the teeth of the overflow are not too thick a really thick nap roller may get in between the teeth.

Just some thoughts for ya.

Incomplete stand. Can't put it together till its in the fish room. there will be a few more supports to keep the legs in place.

This is what you'll see from the living room. tank has to sit 42"or so high to clear the existing wainscoting.
