do you guys think I really need a 4x12 header here? this is not a load bearing wall, one story house BUT this tank is taking up the entire wall. All that will be left are the 2x4's in the corner. I was thinking 1, or 2, or maybe 3 4x4's as header.

I am digging up the sheetrock now

if its not load bearing you dont actually need a header, just a vertical 2x4 at the ceiling for the upright 2x4s to screw to then another vertical right above the tank. these 2x4s are just for framing purposes, something for the drywall to mount to.

oh I forgot to mention I'm a painting/finish carpenter. I can intall a mean wainscoting

thats exactly what mine looked like. just cut the 2x4s above where the top of the tank will be, bolt 4x4 (could probably get away with 2x4s) uprights to the 2x4 uprights on the end, these will support the header. this is what i did with mine

if you're doing the same as me then all you need is a 2x4 "header" because its not supporting any weight, just keeping the top 2x4s straight so you can mount the drywall to it. does this make sense?

I have an extra 4x4 laying in the back yard I'll just use that.
