The biggest you can fit into the sump and the biggest that you can afford.

I hear that ASM makes GREAT skimmers.

I have an Euro-reef RS-250 but I really do believe that for less money, I can get an ASM that performs equally well.

Re: Brooks93 210 gal of money hole

room is not an issue. I have a 10' x 10' room behind the wall the tank will be on. I was going to put it in the wall but, decided against it.

will the euro reef 250 do your 450 and 300?

Re: Brooks93 210 gal of money hole

No, it's not big enough for that, so I'm going to get another one and sit it beside the current one in my skimmer tub. If something happens to one of them, I still have another one skimming away. Backup....

I have around 570g total water volume, not including the 450g aquarium. It DOES do a fantastic job and I believe it keeps up just fine. My nitrAtes are under 20, sometimes even zero, it depends on whether I accidentally overfed.

Scott, you really probably could fit a six foot tank in the area that your 90 is in, couldn't you?

Come on, aren't you itching for an upgrade?

Re: Brooks93 210 gal of money hole

the euro sounds like it would be perfect for me. I look at the reef octo but, it sounds like you need to mod them to get them to work right.

Scott the only reason I am getting the 210 is because a guy about 90 mins away had a 2 month old that he had to part out so I got it for 450.

its the tank I have wanted for awhile but, didn't want to spend that much. LOL so I did the 90 and got everything for it. Now I am going to sell a bunch of it to get the 210 going. what was I thinking

Re: Brooks93 210 gal of money hole

I haven't had ANY issues what so ever with the Euro-Reef. But to be honest, I really do think the ASM's are every bit as good and they are 10-20% less money.

With that said though, I'm going to buy another skimmer for my system, sometime after the 450 has life, and it will be another Euro-Reef. A guy in our club has an RS-250 for sale but for not much more I can get a new one. I think he is asking too much for it.

My thoughts are "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

I'm pretty sure that Lynn (lcstorc) has that exact skimmer and she swears by it. Send her a PM, she is another RS awesome lady and would be very happy to answer questions.
