Re: Brooks93 210 gal of money hole

thats what I needed to know. I would rather drill it but, got to know if its tempered first.

plus it would open up the tank more

Re: Brooks93 210 gal of money hole

It would open up the tank more BUT it won't use any LESS room having it drilled vs. using the siphon boxes. It's just an option. I prefer having it drilled, it's quieter, but don't completely rule out a siphon box either.

What you're doing is what I did to the 450. I used the hole that was inside the overflow box in the bottom, as one of the feeds for the CL. The only difference is, I used the siphon box to get the water to the sump. Actually, I used three of them and I'm getting around 3,300 gph with them.

it really wouldn't matter if i used either. the tank is going in a wall so I have room for either.

but the overflows are cheaper the the lifereef ones.

I would have 2-1" and 2-3/4" holes in the bottom. so I would take the 2-1" as the intake for the CL and use the 2-3/4" as part of the return on the CL and the rest will go through a ocean motion 4 way.

I figure I will run about 400 to 500 gph through the 3/4's and 3000 gph through the ocean motion.

Re: Brooks93 210 gal of money hole

You're going to have a LOT of suction on those two 1" drains. Cover them up with something BIG to keep the animals away from them.

And no doubt! Lifereefs are awesome BUT they are REALLY expensive.

Re: Brooks93 210 gal of money hole

I was actually thinking I would do 3 intakes in the form of a triangle behind my rock islands to cut back on the suction. so it would have 6 1" strainer in the tank. 3 per side.

It looks like the wall is already 6" past the window...

Oh wait, that must mean that you're saying the wall will be 6" BEFORE the window.
