Re: Jeremy0322's 55 gallon build

The 400 was too powerful for your tank, that is crazy. I dont know what im going to do then, maybe I will get an unmodded 1200 and see what that does. I like the way the seios look but from what I have read on here they are not very reliable, and you said they were big.

Re: Jeremy0322's 55 gallon build

Right now, I have a seio 620 along with an mj 400 and 2 mj1200's. I get pretty good flow with that. the mj's are on a wavemaker so no all of them are on at the same time.

Re: Jeremy0322's 55 gallon build

I do not want to buy a wavemaker right now though so I dont know what im going to do. I will probably end up getting one of the 1200s and just run that and see how it goes. If i can find a cheap seio though I would like to try one of those and see how they work.

Re: Jeremy0322's 55 gallon build

If i moved over to a wave maker I would have to change out all of my powerheads because HK's really do not work well with them. Heck, I dont even know what kind of powerhead Im getting yet let alone getting a wavemaker..haha

Re: Jeremy0322's 55 gallon build

I have a seio running all the time, then 2 mj1200's and an mj 400 on the mavemaker. I also have the return.

Alltogether that is about 1600gph/55g tank= 29x turnover. Not all of the powerheads are on at the same time so it ranges from 12-29x turnover rate.

With the HK's you have now plus an mj1200 or 2 should be perfect. I would get 2 mj1200's just incase you want the extra flow, if not, you have a powerhead for mixing saltwater...

Re: Jeremy0322's 55 gallon build

Hey Jeremy did you ever figure out what that neon green algae is growing in your tank? I have some too and would love to know what it is. It does look like coralline though.

Re: Jeremy0322's 55 gallon build

I am pretty sure it was corralline, but it has slowly started to disappear. I finally took a few more shots of the tank so tell me what you think. We will start off with the new frags...Thank You Elliott!!!

And a full tank shot...

Re: Jeremy0322's 55 gallon build

Wow, it feels like its been forever since I have posted on here. I do not really know if it has gone noticed or not but i think it has been almost a month and a half since my last post. It has just been a really hard time and I figured I would let everyone on here know what has been happening. About a month and a half ago my 2.5 year relationship crumbled in about a week. I dont completely know why yet, and neither does she alot of the time, but it hit me really hard. I have some anxiety issues and some mild depression stuff wrong with me and alot of the time that takes stuff like that and just multiplies it. For a better idea since the girlfriend thing happened I have lost about 16 pounds, went from 145 to 129 in around 45 days, I just stopped eating. It was also at that time that I began my testing for something called Ciliac Disease, which means that I am allergic to stuff such as Wheat and Barley and things of that sort. If that comes back positive, which my gastroenternologist thinks its going to, i will have to go on a Gluten free diet, and that will be horrible for me...haha. I will also be having testing done on a growth/tumor on my tibia in my left leg, and even though my doctor says the chances of it being cancerous is like 1% the anxiety issues make that horrible for me aswell. School was done and the job started and all of this stuff just hit me all of the sudden and I kind of just broke down hard. It seemed like everytime I was in the mood to post I didnt really have the time and everytime I had the time i didnt feel like posting, but tonight both finally met up. So, for the good news. The tank is great. The fish are both happy and healthy and dotty the shrimp has molted 2 times that i have seen in the last month. The starfish from Elliott is loving life and never seems to sit still for very long, and the mushrooms finally broke off their bases and moved around. I looked today and there are new baby mushrooms growing in their place, it was awesome to see. The button polyp still hasnt split yet but it alive and for the most part seems happy. I am hoping to be around more often now that everything seems to be coming back together in my life and figured I would explain why I was gone for so long.

Oh, and I will try to get pictures of the Tank and Tyco soon, he is my new puppy that I talked about and has gotten so BIG so fast, it makes me sad...haha
