Re: Terry's 450g upgrade

I forget, do Croceas prefer the sand? Or do they get placed on the rocks?

Croceas are rock boring clams. Put them on the rock work.

Re: Terry's 450g upgrade

Crocea clams like the rocks.
I trick I have learned is to cut a PVC ring to make a clam crib so the clam cannot jump off the rocks. After the clam attaches you can remove the crib

Re: Terry's 450g upgrade

Great idea Jeff. This probably doesn't need to be said, but make sure the PVS ring is bigger than the clam or you won't be able to remove it. My Crocea kept catapulting itself off the rock until it died!

Re: Terry's 450g upgrade

Thanks everyone. I think I saw a pic of what you made, Jeff. It certainly would be easy enough to build a crib for them. Lord knows, I have pipe laying around everywhere here.

Re: Terry's 450g upgrade

Scott, PM sent.

Mucci, I've had two clams before and neither of them lasted more than a week or so. I'm kind of blaming the Flame Angel for their demise but I honestly don't know what happened to them. I didn't know what to look for, back then. I do now and I'll keep a close eye on the new clams. Hopefully they'll be here Tuesday.

I stopped at a new store, right around the corner from work (oh boy, this is going to be a bad thing) and picked up a really nice, large Acropora. I also bought a nice, large colony of clove polyps. I have had ZERO luck with cloves but I think I had to much flow on them. I have a nice, slow flow area for them so I'm giving it another shot. And I REALLY wanted to see a pretty piece of Acropora under the Solaris and see how SPS does with that light. Of course, that kind of changes my water parameter requirements just a bit. No big deal though.

I'm planning on moving everything from the 120 down to the 450 tomorrow. At least as much as I can without stressing things out too much. If the fish get too wound up, I'll give them a few hours to calm down and then move a few more things. It's probably going to be an all weekend event, just to hold the stress level down to a minimum.

Then I'm REALLY going to try to satisfy Kathy's request and make a video of the 450.
