Re: Terry's 450g upgrade

Believe it or not, that's 150 lbs of LR. OK! That isn't going to be even close to enough. I ordered another 300 lbs, then add in the 175-200 from the 120g reef, and I think it'll look pretty good.

Patti came down and supervised some aquascaping with this rock so it's all on one side now. We also dumped in around 250 lbs of sand so far. We're waiting for the water to clear before we do anything else though. I'll take pics of what it looks like now after it clears. With my plumbing change to the RO/DI unit, I should be able to add three 40g barrels a day now.

Re: Terry's 450g upgrade

Wow, that's some perspective...150 pounds, it looks like a drop in the bucket doesn't it? So using hot water can make that big of a difference?

Re: Terry's 450g upgrade

Greg, since I've added in a hot water supply and it's mixed through a T before going into the RO/DI, I made 40g in about 6 hours. They say that if the temp falls below 72 then production falls off really fast. My tap water is around 50.

JoJo, are you talking about the black strainer baskets? I bought those at Tractor supply. They give a HUGE area for the water to be sucked from and keeps all the animals far away from the suction. They are covering the three inputs to the CL pump.

Re: Terry's 450g upgrade

Actually Lorraine, aching feet! I have to be up on my tippy toes and lean WAY down into the tank to reach the bottom. Well, that's when I'm moving these HUGE rocks around. Normally I wouldn't need to do that. I wanted to have a VERY firm grip on these rocks though.

JoJo, MarineDepot has them listed by it looks like they are out of them. I'm sure lots of places sell them though. Two of these have 2" connectors, the other one has 1 1/2". They are all three the same size, they just take different size connections to the pipe.

Well, the two ends are 1", converted to 2" at the very top to connect the basket. The one in the back is 1 1/4", converted to 1 1/2" at the very top.

Re: Terry's 450g upgrade

The size of that rock really puts things into perspective. It makes your tank look even larger knowing that there's only 150 lbs in there right now. It's looking good so far though. Can't wait to see the final aquascape!

Re: Terry's 450g upgrade

Well, the final aquascape will probably be six weeks from now, after the additional 300 lbs is cured. *sigh*

I KNEW I should have gone ahead and ordered the full 450 lbs at once.

Re: Terry's 450g upgrade

How cute - you added some LR rubble to your tank!

The solaris looks great but there is just one problem.
They only cover half of the tank.
