Re: Terry's 450g upgrade

Awwww shucks - hunny!!! You make me blush!!
Brooks - I'd be HAPPY to talk with your wife!!!! LOL There are a few secrets I can divulge to her!!! Not on here tho - you guys might learn our ways and then heck - what else would you have to ponder and wonder about! We have to keep you guys on your toes!

We (Terry & I) have a pretty good "working relationship" - he understands, as I do the give and take of things!!! That being said - it will be very nice when this project is completed and we can sit back and enjoy it - hopefully it will be very relaxing!

I'm starting to worry about ol Scott - did he really go into hiding???? LOL

Re: Terry's 450g upgrade

It really helps to be able to work together! John and I work together at Work, and we've done tons of projects throughout our marriage. The biggest being a complete renovation of our 100+ yr old first house. It's actually the house he was born in.. we bought it from his parents. The house was originally a boarding house so was cut up into a ton of weird little rooms. We converted it to a true "double"; we lived upstairs and his folks lived downstairs. We still own it, and rent it out now that we built our new home (ourselves!). It's true.. the give and take and willingness to concession once in awhile really help!

Honey, here is Brooks chronicle. You might want to read the last page of his thread...

brooks93 90 gal bow.

Also, take a CLOSE look at Brooks avatar. He gave me grief about our soda machine and the way it's decorated....

We are men though and we worked things through. We both grunted and farted and obtained a mutual respect for each other.

Re: Terry's 450g upgrade

On another note, I really want very white, very fine sand. I can't tell just by looking at pictures how it would look. This is one I'm considering:
Aragamax Aquarium Sand

What does everyone else use? I know about the Southdown at Home Depot but I looked, they don't have any. And I'm worried about the silicates in other kinds.

I've heard good things about Tropic Eden : Tropic Eden Aragasnow (sugar size, .5mm) 30lb: Premium Aquatics

I haven't received my order yet; I ordered 60lbs. Look for the sugar-fine size of aragonite.

I thought it was going to be designing for the sexes when I came to your place, but you two work very well together!

Patti, you are progressing nicely! You will also have to present an oral presentation on setting up a sump.

Thanks Barb. I'm really interested in the whiteness of it and your opinion of it when you get it. The thing that keeps tripping me up though is I'll need between 450 and 650 pounds of this stuff in order to have a 3-4" sand bed. I have sandsifters and I would like to add a bluespot jawfish so I want/need a nice, thick sand bed.

Let me get you started honey. This thingy catches the water from that thingy and that other thingy over there, as does the other thingy beside it. Both of these thingy's drain into that thingy back there. The one thingy has stuff in it, the other thingy has a tall thingy in it that makes bubbles for some reason or another. There is around 394,100 gallons per hour (gph) flowing through these thingys.

Re: Terry's 450g upgrade

terry if you used all sugar sand wouldn't it compact to much? I did 50/50 of fine and medium and mixed it together.

Re: Terry's 450g upgrade

That's the reason I'm asking before I buy sand. I honestly don't know. I used crushed coral for my 120 and I'm not thrilled with it. BUT, the sandsifter starfish don't have any issues with it. It's just not "pretty" but it appears to be very functional.
