Yeah...ha ha ha. It's been there for a while. I need to clean the skimmer out. The sunshine has made coralline algae grow on the inside of the skimmer.

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: The 180gal Family Project

nice job on the plumbing, i like the painted pipes. question, i see you drilled holes in the pipes draining to the sump, is this to lessen the amount of air bubbles or something else?

Re: The 180gal Family Project

wow, that's a serious closed loop you got going there! Looks great !
72' x 24 x 24 ~ nice dimensions, you'll be able to reach the bottom of your tank no problem. I like to add to the length and hold off on the depth. Good for PAR too.

The only part of the plumbing we did yesterday was the sump drains. The drain pipes going into the fuge and simmer section are about 4" past what the water line will be. We wanted to try putting some holes in the bottom of the pipe so that all the water isn't rushing out of one big place, it's coming out of a few so, we're hoping, it'll cut down on the splashing and the sound. I don't know if it's going to work or not, but that's the plan.

Thanks everyone for taking a look. Tommy's been great! We sat down and kind of reconfigured everything yesterday after seeing exactly how everything fits together. Tommy measured and cut everything and I was outside with Olivia gluing everything. I'm going to try to finish gluing tonight while Tommy's working on the sump returns. We're picking up or CL pump on Sunday (which is our first wedding anniversary and the way May is looking, we're not going to be able to celebrate until June!) so plumbing that system will have to wait until next week.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
