LOL Craig! Tommy builds elevators for a living so he's used to building stuff to hold a LOT of weight.

Matt...Tommy started losing his hair, it's always been thin anyway, so, in a fit of fustration, he went out and bought a set of clippers while we were in Sarasota for his step-sister's wedding so I could shave it all off. I shave it for him with a 1 guard. He always forgets to put sunscreen on his head.

That stand looks sturdier then the stand that my 450 is sitting on!

I also agree with his shirt.

Re: The 180gal Family Project

Thanks, guys. It's just the bones of the stand, we are going to put a facod around it once we put the sump in there because once we put it in there, it's going to be really hard to get it out. We're still having problems getting the last bulkhead and the strainers so plumbing is on hold for now.

Stand looks VERY nice!!

You do need some lateral support in there. Called "Knee bracing" in the construction arena. Cheap & easy to do.

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: The 180gal Family Project

Thanks, Al. That's what I meant by "cross braces". I don't know construction at all. Tommy builds elevators for a living so he knows what he's doing.

We ordered our sump return pump and it should be here tomorrow or Saturday. All we need is the last bulkhead and strainers and we can get to plumbing. Although, I must admit that I really want to re-work some stuff so the tank we were going to use as a QT can be plumbed into the whole system and used as a clown tank with an RBTA, put the 47 in the "electrical closet" and use that one as the QT tank instead - it's larger anyway. If we do that, then we have to change the wall we were going to put the system on and re-arrange the whole living room, run phone wire and install a new phone jack for the satellite since the tv would have to be on a different wall and get new lamps...I'm seriously considering it.

Man, does THIS sounds familiar. I bought a used 450g tank, and SOMEHOW we ended up laying slate tile WAY around the corner from the tank and it had NOTHING to do with the tank.

HOW do you women DO that to us guys???

Re: The 180gal Family Project

You don't want to get too big of a qt if you are going to use it as a hospital tank as well. You will spend a fortune on meds if you ever need them.
