Re: The 180gal Family Project

Any time Barb, as long as it's not cold! I only own one sweater. I've been to Ohio once. It was for New Years. We went to visit Tommy's best friend in Hamilton. It ended up snowing the day we left so we built anatomically correct snowmen on their front porch. They were newlyweds so we thought it was appropriate.

I think Tommy spent $200 on the whole pond that he got at Lowe's. We got the rock in the from the 47 gal tank that's in Olivia's room. It was originally set up as FW and came with an oscar in it. The goldfish were 27 cents each at Wal-mart.

Re: The 180gal Family Project

oh...make sure to supply the hard labor. I found out that holes are best dug by strapping young men when they're shirtless and it's hot outside.

Re: The 180gal Family Project

Oh! Hmmm. Do I even KNOW anyone young and strapping who would be willing to work in the hot, hot sun with their shirts off, sweating as they labor ever so hard? Hopefully, I'll be able to find some of those.

So, we'll sit in the shade under the weeping willow sipping iced tea whilst they dig the hole?

Re: The 180gal Family Project

That's the general idea. If nothing else, we can always place an ad in the paper and hold auditions. WANTED: Young, single, strapping men to dig small hole stirtless. Must be comfortable being oogled and whistled at by married women.

Re: The 180gal Family Project

Just caught up. Lots of stuff happening around here. Be sure you let that silicone cure for quite a while.
Woodstock lost a good part of her tank when she put in a new sump that was not totally totally dry.
Can't wait to see progress pics.

Re: The 180gal Family Project

It's going to have to cure for at least 2 weeks until we get the painting and plumbing done.

Nice pond Nikki!

As an expecting mom I would avoid all chemicals just to be safe that's what husbands are for, eh?

Give me some time, man! She's only 3 months old. I can only handle so much at once!

Re: The 180gal Family Project

Nikki, I have to admit I'm wondering a bit about the black silicone. I wonder about the dyes added. Is it still "pure" silicone that's okay to use on aquariums? I'm not questioning your judgement; just making sure, ya know?

Re: The 180gal Family Project

Yeah, it's aquarium silicone. My face has sufficiently peeled...it's like I wet to the dermatologist and got a chemical peel but I'm fine.
