De Revamp!!!!

Well I kinda lost track of my little 12 gallon Aqua-Pod. So I am now giving it the attention that it once recieved. This tank is what got me into reefing, so it Deserves to be with me throughout my reefing adventures. I tore down everything on the little tank. I took out all of the old LR and sand. I removed the lid/light. I cleaned the entire tank out with vinegar. I even removed ALL of the coraline algea from teh back plastic wall. Then I added my 70w HQI Sun Pod to it. So I have a "new" little tank just begging for some lovin'
Well I have ordered all the parts that I need to turn this stock little nano into a Super-Pod. I ordered a new return pump that will push out 380 GPH. A koralia Nano, a Koralia 1, Jager Heater, Pin-point Wireless Thermometer, ans a Protein Skimmer that is rated for a 110 gallon tank. I figure with the way manufacturers overrate their skimmers this one should do great on this little tank. Here is a picture of the skimmer:

I only plan on adding one small fish to the system, so this skimmer should have NO problem handling a 12 gallon tank. Since I have noticed that it can be hard to have perfectly debris-free water in a nano tank, I may consider adding some type of canister filter that I can use periodically for water polishing.

My initial plans were for a bare bottom Montipora tank. But after seeing a few videos of Yellow Watchman Gobies I may have to add some sand. These little fishs eem to have great little personalities. I am thinking that I will have a central column of rock in the tank, with a few small islands around it. I want to have some exotic zoos around the perimeter of the "column" and some pating montis toward the top. I have some Kaeini, timora, and tonga fusion comming tommorow and thursday for my 240 as well as some marcorock. SO I will have an assortment of rock to choose from for this little tank.

I think that I have covered almost everything, but I am new at nanos considering that I have had one for so long. It never really amounted to anything great. I want this to be a great little nano tank. What am I doing wrong, and what will make it better. Thanks for any advice.

That 12 gallon nano is going to take off for the moon with that skimmer. You'd better tie it down!

I know. I went a little overkill, but I think that will make it alot easier to keep water water parameters in-line.

Just curious, isnt that collection cup cut diagnaly and the overflow drain at the top?

It is a weird design. The cup is cut diagonaly, and all the skimate is siphoned through a tube into a collection container.

Yeah it is sealed.

You can see teh nozzel at the top, that is where the skimmate drains out. There is a video on the manufacturer's website that shows it in actino.

This skimmer is made by the same people who make the terrminator skimmer.

Hey Jack, Have you personally used the skimmer that I got. It does look to be a good little piece of equipment. THe tank will be filled today. I have my Tonga Fusion coming today. So I might get to do some early aquascaping. The Timora and kaelini and Marco will be here tommorow. So I need to have a huge aquascaping party this friday. Who wants to come help? You can help with the 12 gallon and the 240 gallon. It will be fun!!!
