Re: brooks93 90 gal bow.

well here is a quick pic of the tank and stand. More to come later as I start working on it today.

my wife doesn't like it on that wall but, its the only option. Then she said the magic words. What about putting it in the wall.

the wall to the right of the tank is shared between the Living and Family room with the furnace room below it. now I need to look at a bigger tank and some demo in a couple of years

Re: brooks93 90 gal bow.

well got it plumbed up twice. LOL had a bulkhead crack and since I had to tear it apart I changed the way I had it plumbed. First time doing plumbing on a tank so I had to learn quick. anyway I got the tank filled with mixed saltwater and added 80lbs of sand. dropped in a shrimp and getting my live rock thursday. OH and late last night I had a seam start to leak. very small leak on the bottom of the tank. sealed it back up and it seems to be fine now.

Re: brooks93 90 gal bow.

well its no longer a bow front tank. the slow leak I could not get to stop. So I replaced the tank with a new All Glass 90. set it up and watched all my levels and they have been at zero for a week so I moved the fish over. Boy do they like the new size.

here are some updated pics

Re: brooks93 90 gal bow.

WOW! It looks SWEET!!

LOVE that light fixture!
(green with envy)

Too much flow? Only if you have low flow corals or you shoot water OUT of the tank Actually you CAN but in general a tank can take a LOT of flow.

Honestly I LOVE flow!! Just try to keep in mind which corals you want to keep long term and plan your flow per their requirements.

Again it looks SWEET! Keep up the good.. no GREAT work

Happy Reefing

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: brooks93 90 gal bow.

nothing new to report but wanted to add something.

changed pumps to two hydor koralia 2 & 4. with the modded maxijets 2 900 and 1 1200 my fish always stayed in one corner in the back. I took out the maxijets and just put in the two 2's and they where swiming everywhere. I then got two 4's and come most of my flow back and the fish still swam side to side. So I guess I had to much current. I want to get a wavemaker for the hydors but, I guess they don't have one yet.

Re: brooks93 90 gal bow.

A lot of people are using other manufactures wave makers with the Koralias and having a lot of success.

They might not be too much flow, just point them towards the glass more and let the current bounce off of that. It should create a nice dispersed flow throughout your whole tank.

Re: brooks93 90 gal bow.

You could create a circular pattern out of them but corals seem to prefer more of a turbulance. That would be created by pointing them at each other from different sides of the tank.

How are the fish handling this pattern? Things look better?
