| Torch coral | Re: Tufa's tank!!! Bah! Thanks to the wonders of crappy test kits I can't tell if I'm cycled or not. My ammonia test is seachem. It uses a tiny "dot" which changes color. 2 weeks ago it was bright blue (off the charts), but today it looks like its zero or pretty darn close to it (like I can tell the color of a 2 mm dot!). For nitrite, also seachem. I have to assume the chemical went bad as a vendor threw it in for free, and instead of a pinkish color I get a pinkish-brown. So who knows. For nitrate, I used a Red Sea test. This reads 0. Phosphate is also Red Sea, and that read .1 or .2. I was hoping for zero since I used all RO and very clean/cured rock, but I guess I can deal with that for all the sand and rock. So who knows. I'm guessing I'm cycled in a month with my 150 cured LR, but will wait a few more anyway. And yes, the Salifert tests are on order! So - what to get first? A few easy softies or a pair of clowns? |

| Torch coral | Re: Tufa's tank!!! I have life! Two clowns, a watchman goby, and a small cuc! First time I have evered ordered livestock online, and I'm happy to say that LiveAquaria did a great job getting everything here alive and well. The clowns look great and are acting great. The goby is on the small side for a medium, and he seems a bit more "reserved". I never owned a goby in my prior fowlr, so will have to keep an eye on him. |

| Torch coral | Re: Tufa's tank!!! Here they are! Modest beginnings, but we all still excited to have them. I don't even have any food for them yet, so I found some frozen scallops in our fridge and minced one up. The goby chowed like no tomorrow. He is supposed to be yellow, but looks kinda pale to me. Still love the frowny face though. The small clown also ate well, but the bigger guy didn't. Hopefully tomorrow. |

| Watch this Ma! | Re: Tufa's tank!!! Glad to hear that they're eating already. Buy some mysids (frozen) and thaw it out in RO/DI water. Drain the water and throw it away. Then soak the food with Selcon, Zoe, and Garlic and feed them each and every day. You'll end up with happy, healthy fish. ![]()

| Torch coral | Re: Tufa's tank!!! The goby has already earned his name- "Overflow Joe". I hope he doesn't make a habit of it, as my sump can be a treacherous place! I have some flake ordered that should come in tomorrow. I have no local place that sells frozen, so my next trip to Minneapolis I will pick some up. For tonight the goby still loves his scallops (eating immediately after spending the day in the sump and getting fished out!). The clowns don't seem too interested though, which has me a bit concerned. They are not tank-bred so I hope they acclimate soon. |

| Watch this Ma! | Re: Tufa's tank!!! uh oh, the clowns are wild caught? I never heard why, but I've read LOTS of warnings about buying wild caught clowns. That they drag in all sorts of bad stuff with them. Maybe someone else can say "Terry, you don't know what you're talking about" which really is perfectly ok with me! ![]()

| Torch coral | Re: Tufa's tank!!! Drag bad stuff with them? Like what? According to LiveAquaria they are all acclimated and eating before they sell them. However, while my little one eats my big guy still does not. He looks ok but I feel he should be eating by now. I've offered fresh marine meats, flake, and cyclopeeze. |

| Over Achiever | Re: Tufa's tank!!! Go to the seafood counter at your local supermarket and get some fresh shrimp, squid, scallop and chop it to a fine consistency. Feed that, it's just as good as anything you can but frozen from a LFS. Or make a mush from any of the fine recipes you can find in the RS Marine Cuisine Cookbook. BTW, great additions and excellent choice of on-line vendors! |

| Watch this Ma! | Re: Tufa's tank!!! If you got them from LiveAquaria, then I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. I also doubt that they were wild caught. LiveAquaria is a top quality wholeseller.

| Watch this Ma! | Re: Tufa's tank!!! I just went and looked and you're right, it's impossible to tell. Even if they were wild caught, LiveAquaria does a great job in QTing them and treating them to make sure they won't harm your tank. I didn't know you got them from LiveAquaria. ![]()

| Watch this Ma! | Re: Tufa's tank!!! Nah, it's probably eating when you aren't looking. Not joking around. It's probably picking food up later and eating. How is it looking now? I just thought of something... Send an Email to DFS and describe to them what is going on. I'd be interested in their response.
