Re: Tufa's tank!!!

WOOT!!! Just got the tank I ordered from Jack today and she is a beauty! Was packed awesomely and seems to have come off the tank w/o a scratch. I'm really glad I got the Euro-bracing. Not only does it look sharp but I think it will discourage any jumpers.

The guy building my stand came over too and will start this weekend, so she should be up with water in about a week!

I'll try to snap a few pics tonight. Right now the glass is completely fogged from coming in from -14 weather.

Re: Tufa's tank!!!

Well, it is like I am looking at my tank and my equipment. You are going to love the filtration system. I just got my skimmer up and running last night. Remember I jsut added the LR last night. I have a half full skimmer cup this morrning. And it is not a light colored watery skimmate. It is the real deal, brown and stinky. This skimmer is where it is at. WHich one did you get, the standard one with the sump or did you up grade?
Gah you got pics up and I still dont!!

Re: Tufa's tank!!!

Did you get the top bracing like mine Mike? I really like it. Not sure on the skimmer - what is the upgrade? He still owes me a gate valve and hasn't sent my invoice yet.

My rock has been curing for about 5 weeks now in a separate tank, so as soon as the stand is built and I get her plumbed up the cylce should be pretty quick. I'm also getting 50 lbs of dead base rock from Marco today. I'm gonna soak it all in muriatic acid until the stand is ready.

I finally decided that I just didnt have the heart to paint this tank, so instead I went to a local sign maker today and order a 6x2 starboard background with an ocean blue vinyl siding on it. I have seen others do this and you really can't tell the difference. This way I can always switch to black if I want too. Its gonna cost $35, which is kinda spendy for a background, but I think I'll be happier this way.

Re: Tufa's tank!!!

Holy crap is this Marco Rock nice!!!! I REALLY wish I had purchased all Marco and only seeded with 50lbs of LR rather than the other way around. As it is, the rock I got from Premium, although nice, is now gonna serve as my base rock and the Marco will be the show pieces!
