"Chronicle Marina del Filón de los Carlos"

Well I took the plunge and joined the marine aquarium community. This will be a chronicle following all the progress, that I've made, screwing things up. Im not even sure that's called progress... But, I consider any lesson learned is progress. I love everyone elses reefs they look amaising... Hopefully I can produce my own little corner of the ocean.

And so begins our shallow look at a vast deep sea (Is anyone still reading?).

First thing that must be done in this hobby, aside from research, is to find a tank. I want to give a special thanks to Jack for being to patient and putting up with my indecisiveness and constant stream of PM's.

I finally made a decision and purchased the 28 gallon Nano-Cube HQI. it even came with a free stand... AWESOME...
Well after patiently waiting for my baby, i got a call from my house that my tank arrived.

YAY!!! 3 days

Well after work I came home and First lesson learned...

Lesson Numero Uno: Don't skimp on shipping.

FedEx royally sucks
Luckliy nothing was broken, although my stand was missing some hardware. But all is good i have more hardware coming and will soon be up and running, or at least up.

More updates to come. Sorry for the narrative.

People come into our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: "Chronicle Marina del Filón de los Carlos"

Well i got a call yesterday, 1-11-08, and the company that built my stand was sending me a new one. I thought they were only sending the hardware but oh well no complaints. Yesterday i also ordered the rest of my initial equipment. I got a ro/di unit. aquacontroller jr with serial, temp, and dc8. refractometer, pump for mixing, 2 heaters, and a 160cfm fan.

The Aquacontroller Jr. with serial port, temp probe, and dc8 was 250 free shipping... Check out Saltycritters.com

thats it for my update.

OH heres a list of coarl candidates
Pachyclavularia
Catalaphyllia
Euphyllia glabrescens
Lobophyllia
Stylophora
Turbinaria
Tubastrea
Any Zoanthids
Lobophytum
Ricordea

Live Rock - Tampa Bay Saltwater Aquacultured Live Rock

I've heard nothing but good feedback about these guys. I've never used them though. But I think I will when I get my 450 up and ready.

Re: "Chronicle Marina del Filón de los Carlos"

i checked it out and they were awesome...only thing was shipping really messed me up. it was 160x2 for shipping the whole 2 piece package on top of like 360 for the package itself. The guy that helped me was awesome though. my case was an awkward one, i dont have any major airports within a 3 hour drive...
