| Neon dottyback | Re: "Chronicle Marina del Filón de los Carlos" 2-25-08 Discovered a small patch of what i think is green or brown slime algae... ![]() ammonia-0 nitrites-0 nitrates-0 phosphates-0 calcium- 360 alk- 179 light is only about 2 months old. What do i do? Most solutions were to replace the bulb but it is not old enough. Last edited by CAVINCA : 02-25-2008 at 04:36 PM. Reason: added parimeters |

| Elegance coral | Re: "Chronicle Marina del Filón de los Carlos" Usually the slime (cyanobacteria) is just a natural progression of a new tank. It is more opportunistic than other algaes, and normally it comes first, then microalgaes start to outcompete it for food and space and it goes away. The best recommendation I've got to eliminate it for now is to blow it off/suck it out with a turkey baster. I had it for about 3 weeks during the first couple months with my tank, then it disappeared.

| Golden Moray | Re: "Chronicle Marina del Filón de los Carlos" Suck it out with the turkey baster. Blowing it around may spread it.

| Watch this Ma! | Re: "Chronicle Marina del Filón de los Carlos" Add a powerhead and aim it at the area that the cyano is growing. That typically means you don't have enough circulation at that spot. Once your tank matures a little more and the cyano goes away, you can remove that PH.
