How does the microscope work for you with it up against the tank? I think I'll run out and get one too. Great idea!

Its awesome for stuff ON the glass or something you may pull out and want a closer look at. Other than that it has no pluses, but it is really awesome to see the lil stuff swim to the light and be able to focus on it.. For stuff inside the tank i got a small hand 4x magnifing glass with a light from walmart.

There's probably some critters in the LR somewhere poopin'. The diatoms are inevitable. They'll go away. Now then..let's get those pics loaded...

Diatoms will go away when they consume all the silicates from your sand.

Quick question...

How do you guys combat "dusty" water? from what i can tell its not really sandy, just dust from the environment or something... it just wont settle...

Socks and sponges should do the trick. Do you have the skimmer going?

Re: "Chronicle Marina del Filón de los Carlos"

You can attach a sock (and yes I mean raid your wifes panty hose drawer) to the pipe that is draining into the sump. I would also try a sponge at least temporarily until it clears. Most return pumps come with one.

Re: "Chronicle Marina del Filón de los Carlos"

Can you tell what the first one is? It looks like a baby crown of thorns star.

Were you shooting normal or macro. With macro you may need a tripod or a put the lense against the glass to stabalize the camera. Its a fairly fast camera so open your f-stop to the lowest number (widest aperture) so the shutter won't be open so long. You can hand hold to about 1/30 second shutter speed. Longer than that it's tripod only.
