| Neon dottyback | Re: Ricks' Oceanic 14G Biocube - my first salt water tank Thanks guys, still having a blast with this although I think the pace is slowing down as I run out of room in my nano - just enjoying watching it all grow now. Since I am dosing the tank every couple days with Phyto for the cocoworm now anyway, I decided to pick up a red gorgonian coral last night. I'll post pics tonight once it has opened up. Also got some new snails, worth mentioning, Orange Chestnut snails. The foot looks just like a trochus snail but the shell is much prettier and a very bright orange. Pics to follow.

| Neon dottyback | Re: Ricks' Oceanic 14G Biocube - my first salt water tank yea, their foot movement is really fascinating too, it looks as though it has two feet that move back and forth in opposite directions when it moves. I like em, and he's much faster and a more active cleaner than my trochus snails.

| Neon dottyback | Re: Ricks' Oceanic 14G Biocube - my first salt water tank crap, I just noticed some zoas went missing from my tank after the memorial day weekend. Were on a plug near my Xenia, you'd think I would have noticed when I put the gorgonian in. Oh Man, I be they are behind the rocks...DOH !

| Neon dottyback | Re: Ricks' Oceanic 14G Biocube - my first salt water tank found the missing zoas, they fell behind the center rock over the weekend. Look OK. A little shrunk up but in tact. They should bounce back..Whew! ![]()

| Neon dottyback | Re: Ricks' Oceanic 14G Biocube - my first salt water tank Just realized my maroon clown went and had a sex change - was bright orange when I got him and now she is dark purple, almost black - upon further reading I learned that all clowns are boys at birth and when isolated the males will turn female. Cool Reference photo at acquisition ![]() Now, as you can see, shes a different fish !! ![]()

Both my gold barred maroons smaller male/larger female had the dark adult coloration.

| Neon dottyback | Re: Ricks' Oceanic 14G Biocube - my first salt water tank Could be - I read that the females turn darker so I assumed that is what happened and since it was the lone clown and all. Anyway, also got a new addition last night - cool little pom pom crab. Sadly it disappeared as soon I put it in the tank. I hope my brain didnt eat it. Have not been able to find it since the first hour it was in the tank. Probably just hiding somewhere I cant see him but my brain looked awfully flush and fed when I went to bed. We'll see ![]() also a new right side view of the gorgonia in full flux. ![]()

| Neon dottyback | Re: Ricks' Oceanic 14G Biocube - my first salt water tank Got a couple new frags today - 1 acan of unknown variety (if you can ID it I'd love to know) also got a new ricordea, little blue guy with 2 purple mouths, he was harvested so he's still acclimating to the new tank. I'll post abetter pic when it opens up a biot more. Doing a little rearranging of the tank - coco worm is going to the ground where it looks a little more natural. And Im terribly afraid my brain ate my pom pom crab........to be continued (looks full doesnt it :smck: ) ![]() ![]() ![]() and last but not least - the fat brain ![]()
