| Neon dottyback | Re: Ricks' Oceanic 14G Biocube - my first salt water tank I dunno guys, these were scarlet hermits that took down my shrimp - not completely harmless Id say, of course in a larger tank my shrimp would have had more places to run or hide. Maybe I willl get a regular cleaner next time that is not so fond of hiding in the dark where the crabs like to dwell as well.

| Neon dottyback | Re: Ricks' Oceanic 14G Biocube - my first salt water tank Successfully installed the nanotuners 3.24 lighting and airflow upgrade today. Pretty awesome - check out the slide show on how to do it here. The results are pretty impressive, much brighter in the tank - I'll post pics after acclimating my new shrimp and everything gets to enjoy the new light for a day. Check out the detailed slideshow by clicking the small photo below ! ![]() Or check out this separate thread - Ricks (DJBACON) 3.24 nanocustoms lighting upgrade for biocube 14g Before ![]() during ![]() After - ![]()

| Neon dottyback | Re: Ricks' Oceanic 14G Biocube - my first salt water tank Both good questions Al !! Why am I not surprised Actually the temps dropped about a degree presummably due to the improved airflow and faster fans. But yes, they do seem a tiny bit louder. I like that there is better oxygen exchange, but they are not quite as quiet as the stock fans. Really looking forward to the results of the additional lighting though. It's a 50% increase from what was in there. I reduced the photo period to 6 hours today, and will adjust back up to 8 over the week just to make sure I dont shock anything. Probably not necessary, but with the issues I have had with my Yuma I'd rather play it safe.

| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Re: Ricks' Oceanic 14G Biocube - my first salt water tank I think you're doing right by reducing photo-period for a while. My NanoTuner's fans are WAY loud. I saved about $16 but getting the standard ones instead of Silent-X ones. Boy I wish I would have opted for the Silent-x ones now. I'd easily pay DOUBLE for them to NOT have to take it all apart again. It's no big deal except it's here in my office and I do all my electrical work at home. There is the pain in the tail! I think you'll thoroughly enjoy the upgrade. I know I have. Allen

| Watch this Ma! | Re: Ricks' Oceanic 14G Biocube - my first salt water tank I love my cleaner shrimps. At night, under the moon lights, they play King of the Hill. They seem to gather on top of the rock on the left side of the tank. Then one climbs up and jumps into the stream created by the vortech and goes flying down towards the rock on the right side and knocks one of the off.

| Neon dottyback | Re: Ricks' Oceanic 14G Biocube - my first salt water tank thats really funny. Im amazed at how fearless the cleaners are. Once he realized that I deliver the food, now anytime my fingers go near the water, he is right on me, picking at my finger tips. Not sure he really "knows" me but I enjoy it anyway.
