| Midas Blenny | Re: Ricks' Oceanic 14G Biocube - my first salt water tank Welcome!!! I also have a biocube, although just 8 gallons, and I have a heater in the first sump area, although lately have had some overheating? Maybe due to lights on extended periods. A word of advice- I have fished (pardon the pun) 3 of my creatures out of the back, the sixline wrasse loves to jump in the sump, and today my percula clown was doin the up and down in the pump area!!! Luckily no worse for the wear, but cover the tank (when you get the fish) while you have the lid open!!!

| Torch coral | Re: Ricks' Oceanic 14G Biocube - my first salt water tank Thanks for the advice grinch, Ive heard of that happening before - I have had a snail sneak back there before my first 2 chambers dont really have room for anything (skimmer and filter floss blocking access) but I keep an eye on the third chamber. Af riend lost a small clown into his pump. Some people make mods to prevent this. I only have the one fish right now and hes not given me any trouble (fingers crossed) yet. -Tori - yeah - I LOVE the shroooms - I know they are like the newbie beginner favorite, least exciting etc. but I think they are gorgeous. Waiting one more day for them to fully open and fill in before I post pics. So far so good though. 90% made it through the fragging process very well.

| Torch coral | Re: Ricks' Oceanic 14G Biocube - my first salt water tank This tank is amazing with so much color. Great coral picks. I also have some of the deep red coraline here and there but mostly just green nasty algae right now. Just wanted to pop in and say how full of color your cube is.

| Serpent Star | Re: Ricks' Oceanic 14G Biocube - my first salt water tank Got up for work about an hr ago and got on RS to skim latest posts. One hour later I have read this entire thing. Thanks for the distraction, lol. Great story. I have been doing this for over 2 years now and learned alot more about chemistry, cycling, etc. I did not know that ph changes in morning vs evening. I always test mine about 5pm when I come home so I have not noticed any major changes on a daily basis except when something is out of whack. I am going to get a perm. ph monitor to watch it more closely. Beautiful tank. One thing I noticed in this story though was that you started out very cautious (only going to add one item per week) and then like the rest of us, became addicted and seemed to add 2-3 things a week at times, lol. | Torch coral | Re: Ricks' Oceanic 14G Biocube - my first salt water tank yea, the blues are definitely my favorite - I lost one during the fragging process, it was fine until I did my water change but somehow in the re-filling process it got blasted off the rocks....hopefully it will attach somewhere unexpected and I will be able to find it As of now it is MIA (was about the size of a pea)

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Ricks' Oceanic 14G Biocube - my first salt water tank Very nice nano. Shrooms are still one of my favorites and you have some great colors. The one that came off will likely attach itsel somewhere. You could find it days or weeks from now.
