| Golden Moray | Re: My slow 135g build i thought kim was going to pass out when she saw how many gallons of water was "waste" compared to RO. she asked if there's a way to recirculate the waste through the RO unit, which got me thinking, i havent come up with anything yet. anyone ever heard of doing this? well, its Memorial Day, the tank is wet & the weather is great what better reasons to celebrate than with a with a dip in the pool and a nice bottle of Happy Memorial Day

| Watch this Ma! | Re: My slow 135g build I think about the only way to use the waste is to run it into another RO/DI unit, but you'd still have a good bit of waste. Supposedly, the waste gets less and less as the unit breaks in. Most people use it for swimming pools, fresh water ponds, gardens, things like that. Put a barrel outside and capture it and use it to water the yard.

| Madame Klanganator | Re: My slow 135g build Congratulations, JoJo! I know exactly how you are feeling; it's just the best moment! I'd love to find a way to use the waste water, too. My RO is in the basement so we'd have to find a way to get it up and out of the house. I don't feel like thinking about it!

| Golden Moray | Re: My slow 135g build Thanks Sarah & Greg. also Terry, i'm thinking of running the drain all the way to the pool. right now i have about 40ft of 1/4" drain line from the RO unit & it still have a nice flow, about more 25ft would get it to the pool. i was going to do the pond, but i would have to worry about the dogs drinking out of it when they're out back & it overflowing.

| Watch this Ma! | Re: My slow 135g build I'm assuming that running a line to the pool is pretty much at the same height as the RO/DI unit? If the waste water needs to be pushed UP away from the RO/DI unit, it costs you about 1.5 PSI per foot in elevation. That's not much but it's just something to be aware of. It could reduce the production of the unit. If it turns out that it reduces the production too much, you could catch the waste into a barrel, stick a sump pump (cheap one from Lowes) in the barrel, and let it occasionally pump the water out to the pool.
