Re: My slow 135g build

A leaky baffle won't cause a flood but if you decide to put sand in there, then you could end up with sand in the return section. You don't want that. It could also affect any type of ATO you use because instead of just the return section falling with evap and rising with top off water, the whole area would have to rise and fall. It would allow your salinity to swing a bit more then you would like.

Everything DOES look really good! Nice and clean, that's for sure.

Re: My slow 135g build

thanks Scott, i'm trying to pick up the pace because i've been slakking for so long.

Hey Terry i dont think the return section will be affected since there's another baffle between the center and the return section, is this the way the sump should be or should the 3 baffles be closest to the return section?

I dont think the fuge is large enough to hold a big enough ball of chaeto so i'm think of just filling it with a DSB of Miracle Mud & LR rubble then putting the chaeto in the center section of sump with rubble at the bottom. any thoughts on this?

I know what you mean Mark, thats why it took me so long with the plumbing yesterday & i'm still not 100% sure i like it.

Re: My slow 135g build

i've ordered all the test, sand & salt but Dr.F&S doesnt carry an TDS meter so i have to get one from Marine Depot.

this is what i have in mind TDS Monitor

i'll also order float valves(do i need the valve kit too), i'm thinking one for the ATO & one for the mix tub
float valve

is this needed float valve kit

should i just buy a gauge like THIS and just use plastic plumbing?

Re: My slow 135g build

I agree with terry on that the baffle will effect the auto top off.

I would put the chaeto in with the rock & mud it will do better in there IMO

all the parts look great

Re: My slow 135g build

i got the fuge plumbing done this morning, i had to drill another hole for the bulkhead but i think it came out ok.

i put a reducer on the 2" T which drops the to a 3/4" pipe. the hole above the pipe is for topoff lines and such. you can see the fuge return line coming back in and dumping near the return pump to the DT

i tried to use the least amount of angles going to the fuge, i'm not sure how far down the pipe should go into the water though

i know i have to drill a hole in the middle of the cap, but where should the other hole go, in the middle of the turn on the 90 street right?

Re: My slow 135g build

i'm ordering the following:

TDS Meter

2 of these for the CL intake basket screens

i didnt realize the Neptune Jr controller were so cheap, so i'm thinking of adding it to the order, which would be best:

Nep. Jr. w/ temp probe

Nep. Jr w/ serial port & temp. probe

Re: My slow 135g build

Those are the gloves I use and I really like them.
Go to Lowes and get a fountain pump to push the water for topoff.
That TDS meter is the one I have also- I really like it too.
Unless you want to use the controller with your computer you don't need the serial port. If you want to get it though, then you have the option for later.
Can't comment about the screens other that to say it "looks" like they would work fine.
