Re: My slow 135g build

i'm probably going to use it as a top off line for something. my dogs drink water like its going out of style & i'm tired of lugging jugs around to fill their drink bowls. since the RO is in their room that solve one problem, i'm still thinking what else i can use it for because i'm unsure if i want to put the pond their or not(it wouldnt be seen much)

Re: My slow 135g build

Hey Joe! Are You planning on feeding the Ro/di straight to the sump for top off? Like use the float switches & all? Or fill a separate reservoir & manually turn the filter off & on? Hope that makes sense! LOL

Re: My slow 135g build

Hi Jojo! You have been busy
I use API and Salifert for testing. API give accurate results within 10-20ppm which is fine for most applications, but if you want to get more specific, most Salifert kits show results within 1-10ppm.
I use the Salifert magnesium test kit. It is an important kit to have if you plan on having corals.

Re: My slow 135g build

Just stopping by JoJo.....

I am test magnesium, calcium, nitrites, nitrates and phosphates twice. First with Salifert, second with Trans Marin Test-Kids ... and Phosphate ONLY with ROWA-Merck Test-Kits.

Re: My slow 135g build

Good Morning RS family! i hope everyone's dday goes well.

Hey Brian, i'm thinking of a seperate tub with a float swtich for it, then a float switch in the sump to run a pump in the top off tub. this would be to keep the RO unit from kicking on so much.

Hey Mark, glad to hear you're so close to setting up your tank. i told you that you'll have it set up before i finish mine.

How are you doing Ms. Doni, i've been trying to kick myself back into gear, still adjusting to this new time schedule. i'm bitting the bullet & ordering the test kits today, if i have to pay $24 for the Mg kit then so be it.

Hey Heinz, i appreciate you stopping by!

Re: My slow 135g build

still havent ordered the sand or test kits...talk about lazy.

i did however get the RO unit plumbed to the bathroom sink after 3 trips to HD & 1 of those was because the fittings were damaged. all i have to do now is run the drain line but i'm still not sure what i want to do with it yet.

Re: My slow 135g build

Jeez, I read THREE PAGES and the RO/DI unit isn't hooked up yet. Ok JoJo, NOW you've done it. I'm heading to the AIRPORT NOW! I'll be there in a few hours. This tank NEEDS to get up and running NOW!!!

Just kidding, JoJo.

I prefer the Salifert test kits. They are a bit more expensive but you also get more tests out of them.

Re: My slow 135g build

I hate that about the home improvement centers. Either they are understaffed or it's a bunch of teenagers that don't know their a$$ from a wrench. All the best with the plumb!
