Re: My slow 135g build

after doing some reading i'm thinking of using 1" pipe as a return, it will be really tight inside the overflow box so i will have plan carefully

Re: My slow 135g build

JoJo, do you have two returns, I can't remember? If you have two then 3/4 is just fine. It is not going to be fun trying to fit 1" in there.

The instructions that came with my magdrive stated to increase the diameter of the return. 3/4 " will work fine. If You go to say 1" you will lose some velocity but may increase flow or volume. Ok so it's tight inside the overflow. You have another pump for a closed loop right? Stick with the 1.5 " durso & 3/4 return. Will they fit?

Re: My slow 135g build

just don't make any permanent connections untill You figure whch size pipe works best for You. I do understand that the durso needs to be at least the same size as the bulkhead to work best.

Nicely stated Cracker. I completely agree, not that it matters, just want to throw my two cents in.

Re: My slow 135g build

Hey Mark, thanks for stopping by. I only one overflow box & one return line.

Thanks Brian, i just came from HD, i got a reducer(1 1/2 x 1"). the 1" pipe has just enough room to clear the durso pipe.

Re: My slow 135g build

man, after checking the flow chart, i may have to squeeze a 1 1/4" pipe through the durso. i dont want to waste the extra 300gph because the 1" pipe couldnt handle it.
1" PVC
10 GPM
600 GPH

1 1/4" PVC
20 GPM
1,200 GPH

I'm sure you will make it work JoJo. I've been working on my 93 chevy truck and I've had to make things work all day, I have faith in you.

Re: My slow 135g build

Maybe that is why My tank isn't done yet. I'm working on two cars. I have way too many hobbies, and no time. I think because I mess with the fish at work so much that I haven't much time to get the other tank up. Then again, I have to figure out what I'm going to build for the house now? It has been a very busy week at work, the truck was calling me this morning, so I had to respond.
