Re: Lorraine's 125 (et. al) - The 2nd Year

Just wanted to report on the change in my HQI lighting in the 125 a week ago. I am still on a reduced lighting schedule (4 hours a day and pendants were raised too) but I am already getting more color in my corals. My pink birdsnest is really getting pink again, my pink milli too, acans, oh, just everything! I love these new lights! Highly recommend them!

They even make my Bluespot happy!

Have you tried freezing the mush in eggcrate?
Someone suggested it and I'm going to try tomorrow.
The fish store was laughing hysterically as I bought a little bit of everything. Then I think he started having fun and talking about how spoiled my fish are. They even had octopus today.

Re: Lorraine's 125 (et. al) - The 2nd Year

Well I had an open house all day today to sell off some stuff to fund a new tank stand. This is a list of what I still have available for sale (too bad you all live so far away):

Green Striped Mushroom Rock - Large
Blue Spotted Mushrooms Covering a Large tonga branch
Orange Branching Digitata - Display piece or frags
Pocillapora (Pink or green)
Fox coral
Acan (green with red stripes)
Zoas - a few colonies, and a few frags
Cabbage Leather (small - great starter coral)
Devil's hand
Yellow polyps
Palani Tang - His is over 15" - 200+ gallon tank required
Pair of Barlett Anthias
12" Coralife 36w light - 2 of these
HOB Aquaclear filter 2 of these, one is a 50 and the other a 70
4" fan
Several heaters

This is what I sold:
Reefkeeper II
Orange Monti Plate - Display piece and large frags
Pink Birdsnest - display piece (kept a frag)
Purple/blue acro (tort?) - display piece (kept a frag)
Green Trumphets - Several
Pink Trumphets - several
Frogspawn (about 10 heads on this piece)
More frogspawn
Scrolling Hammer
Medium Rock with 2 types of fuzzies (2 green, 1 lavender) and orange zoas
Large orange zoa rock
Lots of other zoas (rocks and frags)
5-6" Crocea Clam - needs some tending to (Palani Tang has been bothering it)
Kent Phosban Reactor
A few pumps
Midas Blenny

That's a lot like work, but I got to make lots of people happy in the process (and meet new folks, as well as see some familiar faces too).

Now I have to decide what stand to get. Since I have to take the tank down and since the only thing that hasn't been replaced is the tank itself, I am going to replace it at the same time. The existing tank is still in good condition, but it is 10 years old and since everything else I decided not to replace has broken, I'm not taking any chances.

But it sounds like there is still HOPE! You're getting a new tank!

What will it be? A 180? A 300?

Re: Lorraine's 125 (et. al) - The 2nd Year

He needs to live with you! You ready for me to send him?

I'm considering anything from a 90 to 180. I like the size of tank that I have (6' long), but would like something deeper. However, to use the canopy that I just bought last year, it will need to be another 125. So, unless I find a killer deal on a nice used system in the next few days, it will likely be a 125.

It amazes me but my tank is still very full. I miss a few items, but I kept a frag of everything I sold and they will grow big and pretty again.

The hardest part of this is that Mr. BJ is going to have to move.

Frankie, I don't think these guys ship very well. I just checked and shipping is very pricey too.

That surprises me, if you were here I'd just snap off a piece for you. This is the guy I got for my birthday from Live Aquaria. He has been fragged a good bit but is a slower grower than the other one I had.

I take that back, if you were here you would go home with the entire piece and I would beg for a frag to keep.
