Re: Lorraine's 125 (et. al) - The 2nd Year

Well, I did just that. I like it! The whole family is asking me why I did all of this though.

I ended up buying a new stand instead of using the used one. With what I just went through on my 125 I didn't want to chance the damaged particle board stand. It seemed sturdy, but I know after I put it up I wouldn't be happy with it.

I used the 30 gallon breeder tank to hold all my stuff except the green carpet. That was sweet! The green carpet was a PITA to get detached from the bottom of the tank, then I had him in a bucket while I did the switchover and he attached himself to the bottom of that. He is working his way down into the sand and wedging himself between a few rocks right in the same place he was before.

The RBTA is still attached to the large rock with the orange sponge. I think the sponge will be fine. The rock was too large to worry about keeping it submerged, but I was very quick.

I haven't done any aquascaping yet cause the water was too cloudy for that. It is clearing up nicely so maybe tonight I will tinker. And, I still don't have the HOB refugium or the skimmer hooked up. I wanted to keep as much bacteria going as I could, so I am keeping my HOB filters on for a while.

I'm happy with the result...

Re: Lorraine's 125 (et. al) - The 2nd Year

The anemone tank grew up is all.

I transferred over to the new skimmer and the HOB refugium. I put the old filters in the refugium. Everything seems to be doing great. I did some scaping this morning. I went with a zoa garden look for the right side. The left side was easy, as that is the kingdom of the GC. Take a peak!

lol!

Well here is the latest photshow with my camera. It has pics of the 125 and the new 55 anemone tank. Mr. BJ was in bed during this show so he isn't featured at all.

Great Job!
The Green Carpet has to be pleased with all the space
and the zoa garden will become just as spectacular as they start growing.
I recognize that AGA stand. That what I have my 55g on.

The Slide show is the Best!!
I had to put it in reverse because I thought I saw a Midas Blenny hiding in a Trachy then I started the show again and there were his close ups.

Re: Lorraine's 125 (et. al) - The 2nd Year

I just found this writeup on my tank on WMAS (our local reef club). My tank was TOTM in April and this article was written for that, just before I sold a bunch of my stuff. Seems like so long ago!

Re: Lorraine's 125 (et. al) - The 2nd Year

Lynn - The key is to not try and do it right away. I let the tank clear and then in the morning do the scaping. I was still tinkering today swaping out filters on the back, still not sure I like the flow I have. I put my old F&S HOB filter back this morning because there was film on the surface. This filter rocks -- within just a few minutes it was taken care of. Still need a powerhead in there, but I'm trying to decide which one.

althea - I'm glad I got the new stand instead of trying to set up the old one that came with the tank. Mr. Green is in his usual spot, but in the past he has extended to about twice this size. He seems happy so hopefully it won't be long before he does that again. I forget what the names of the sites were where we dove. We stayed at the Americana (big orange hotel south of town). We went before hurricane and I understand it is a totally different dive experience now. We were in Fiji last and met up with a couple that had just been there and dove the same dives. I showed them my pics and they couldn't believe it was the same place. We plan to go back sometime soon. I don't know why you can't view the photoshows. They are somewhat memory intensive, or maybe you have your settings on your internet set to close and the download takes longer than that. Don't know. See if you can copy and paste this link into your browser and get it to work.

Anyone else having problems with the photoshow?

Re: Lorraine's 125 (et. al) - The 2nd Year

did you guys go to cococuts while you were there? the bar up on the cliff? thats our favorite place on Cozumel. and there is a lot that is different since the Hurricane. we were there 4 years ago and then just last week... and what a difference... there was a lot that has been changed... so i imagine the reef was too...

i will try to copy and paste... see if that works!!!! have a good night
