Re: Althea's 90 Gallon.....

I'm not absolutely sure but it looks as though it may have originally snapper in place. I don't think that the flange was intended to allow the part to turn. On closer look, the part appears to be black plastic and not acrylic. Weld on is used to cement clear (or other) acrylic. If it is just black plastic, I'd use Oatley All purpose cement. You can find it in the plumbing section of any hardware store, Lowes or Home Depot. It's going to cost you though. At least $3 - $4.

I don't much care for duct tape in salt water (or any water). As far as baffles are concerned, if the tank is glass, the baffles should be glass. If the tank is acryilc, use acrylic (plexiglass) baffles. That would be where you would want Weld on (acrylic to acrylic). If glass use aquarium sealent or GE Silicone I (don't use anything that has a mold inhibitor).

Re: Althea's 90 Gallon.....

Doc has it right on the Weldon, I thought the clear was cracked before. It's for acrylic applications. It's very handy to have around when you need it, but Oateys will work to fix your problem just fine.

Have you checked out Craiglist for a 30g? People practically give the smallish ones like that away on there.

Re: Althea's 90 Gallon.....

ok!!! now we are getting somewhere! i got my 30g for the sump, and will begin building ASAP! yippee!! the specs on the 30g are 36"L x 16"H x 12" W ...any tips on how i should build it? like, i see little corner traps on some, some i dont, the layout... whats most recommended? skimmer/pump area then refugium then return? or what? ok, any input while i scour melev's site would be appreciated!

ok, here are my short term goals at the moment...

1 get sump built
2 get skimmer fixed
3 "possibly" get new carpet before we fill the tank...(going to do price checks!)
4 Hook Everything up
5Get Rock/Sand and water INTO the tank...

all this by April 14th! thats my goal. if sooner.. fantastic... but i am going to Mexico in April so i will just let it sit and cycle while im gone! but that the plan! than when i get back... thats when the fun begins!!!! i will get to enjoy seeing water in my tank for a while! HAHAHA!!! its slow! i know... but hopefully its not stupid slow... this is all boring to everyone i know! :P
