Re: Althea's 90 Gallon.....

as for the pumps, the first one with the ball valve on top is a Quiet One (I believe they are made by Pentair) but don't know the model. The second one looks like a Mag drive. Again, not sure of the model.

I believe the skimmer is a decent one. Have you removed the tape to find out WHY it was there yet?

See if you can get some black hose for the UV. That will keep the algae from growing in it.

It looks like your having fun making rocks! That is a HOOT!

Melev is very good at helping out anyone who asks if he can. PM or email him.

Keep up the good work!

Re: Althea's 90 Gallon.....

LMAO... ok.. making the rocks... turned out like i expected... it was fun to try... but buying the sand and the concrete and the boxes and the HUGE holding tank for the freshwater cure.... :P i couls have had 100 pounds if not more of live rock.... but instead i have this!

this is half of an arch i made... and here i broke it in half

and here i crumbled it with extreme ease!!! like wet sand. :P

ah well now i get to go buy some nice LR! LMAO... we tried to save some money in that area.. but as you can see... no... i think if i kept at it and got the right formula and all it WOULD work... but they are sooo heavy... that he doesnt want to risk it in the tank... so now i get to get my LR! woohoo!!!

Re: Althea's 90 Gallon.....

yeah that look is priceless.. its the look like hey im getting my picture taken so i will smile but have that look like i am not happy. Its not so bad... Use it as a base rock and get some pretty rock on top of it. Then many months down the road it will blend in and look just as pretty as the rest.

Silicone would probably work but I think that a solvent based acrylic glue such as WeldOn would work better. It wouldn't just cover the crack but would repair it. Apply it with a glue brush (or crappy old brush, you're gonna ruin it) on the inside and outside. Work it in a little and let it sit overnight. Test it and if it still leaks, do it again til it stops.

That was a great photo. Nice to see you, BTW. Sorry about your rocks. At least you had fun.

ok... thanks!!! where can i get weld on? can i get it at a store? or do i need to order it? also... its not cracked on the outside...here i'll show you..ok, it looks like that peice has to be able to move,,, so the only prob is that the plastic is cracked on bottom of the tube part(not the tube) the black plastic that slides into the base part has a little piece that looks like it was cracked off... like a bite was taken out of the ridge....ill get a pic in a minute, i have to restart my computer.. :P ok... im back...here is what the part looks like..

its broke flat on one part... where the red line is... and on the other side is a lip...thats what its supposed to look like..

on another note... here is the lighting i got for the refugium, the tank is next.. im going to get a 30g. should i do plexiglass baffles or acrylic? thanks all!!!

Re: Althea's 90 Gallon.....

If you google Weld on #3, it will give you sources. The break is definitely a weld on project. Silicone is a great sealent but doesn't bond acrylic like weld on does. I didn't see where anyone mentioned it but the pump with the black hose on it is for your skimmer. The black hose is the airline that brings air to the impeller and then into the body of the skimmer.

oh thank you!!!! LOL... i wondered where it went :P alright!!!

the thing about that break on the black plastic.... it seem like that piece is supposed to be able to rotate in the base. if i put the weld stuff in there.. wont that prevent rotation? like if i needed it to move to another position in my sump, i wouldnt be able to if i welded it.... just a thought. and if that is the case... should i look into a replacement? put it in the position i need it in, then weld it? or just duct tape it like the other dude had it? LOL tia!!
