Re: Althea's 90 Gallon.....

That's a LEATHER??? Jeez, I thought it was an Acro!

I've never seen a leather with a color like that!

I must also say, your kids are SO LUCKY! To have parents like they do... YEP! VERY Lucky!

(your husband is pretty darn lucky too! )

Are you and your sister twins?

Re: Althea's 90 Gallon.....

ok, quick question... now that i have the fan... my tank is cooler... and i think with the addition of the other fan while my MH are on... will help.. but my evaporation is way up... it used to be about a gallon a day.. i think its more than that now... is this because of the fan? i have it laying on the eggcrate face dwn blowing on the fuge... would this cause the water to evaporate faster?and when i add the second fan up at the top og the main tank...will there be more evaporation? TIA

Yes, the evaporation is what is cooling the water. Just like when sweat evaporates off your skin.

I loce the first new coral!!

Re: Althea's 90 Gallon.....

Gorgeous shots of vacation. And you are right about the smooch photo being a keeper...I know a good framerguy!

If you have a top off system it should keep up with the evaporation. Fans make that go way up, but they also break up the water surface and refract the light and intensify it so the extra evap is a small price to pay for all of the benefits.

Re: Althea's 90 Gallon.....

ok, tippeee!! i get my RO/DI unit on thursday... this is GREAT news considering the fact that i am evaporating a lot these days! HA! and next week i will be setting up the auto top off unit, hopefully... most likely on the weekend depending when i can get it delivered... i will be ordering, salt(opinions on which kind would be great! tia!) a phosban reactor for the nano, and an ATO unit. woohoo!!! and here is a couple pics i took today

ok, first is my cucumber who finally has a name... Bojangles

next is a snail who strolled into the cameras view while i was taking the pics of the leather...

here is a pic(looks more yellow than normal in this pic.. this is with the halides on...

here are 2 polyp close ups of it... i havnt seen them fully extended yet..

also.. i have a lot of particulate matter floating all around... is there a certain reason why?... or a better question.. how can i rid myself of it... tia!!!!

Re: Althea's 90 Gallon.....

A lot of times, what looks like particulate matter turns out to be micro bubbles. Another possibility is calcium.

Great pics!

Re: Althea's 90 Gallon.....

thanks terry and craig... terry.. how do you mean calcium? its not miro bubbles.. i get those when i get low on water... this is different...hard to explain...

well, my leather detached AGAIN! little bugger... i think it was in a spot where there was too much flow....sooo.. i took a needle and fishingline and threeaded it through the base and tied it to a rock... i hope it attaches there... well, other than that and my Ro unit coming tomorrow, nothing new!!! im so glads im getting the r unit tomorrow, because i hated going to the LFS to get fresh water... i am tempted everytime to buy a fish! LOL....but i told myself... NO NO.. not for six months after the tank cycles will i put a fish in... sooo 5 months to go... waaah!(or until a bluespot becomes available! ) hahaha!no, i want my tank to be pretty self sufficient and have all my stuff done before i get any fish.., the QT and the ATO and i am going to build a stand or teo to go on each side of the tank for the ballasts and the QT tank. and other misc. stuff. ok.. take care everyone!
