Re: Althea's 90 Gallon.....

ok, so how does this sound?

when contrling the lights o the ACjr... i will always have the moonlights on...so i will have the T5's come on about 10 in the morning...then the HAlides coming on at about 1 pm... then the Halides shut down at about 7pm and then the T5's shut down around 10pm.and the moonlights will stay on 24/7... does that seem pretty well rounded? is that enough MH or is it too much MH? thanks for any opinions!

also... the ACjr, is reading my pH at 8.52

is there any reason wy it would climb like that... or does it take some time to get an actual reading? or could something be causeing my pH to rise, then it will fall? thanks!

Re: Althea's 90 Gallon.....

ok.. wierd.... i put this post in here and i dont see it... lets see.. maybe i put it in the nano chronicle on accident...nope.. it just dissapeared.. wt? ok well... here is my update...

i got my Aqua controller up and running and fully functional!!!! all to the thanks of Mark! (octoman!) he took the time today to walk me through the process! how cool was that!? so thank you again Mark! i really appreciate it, i dont think i would have been able to do it without any help!

also, i think my cycle has ended...

Nitrites are 0 Ammonia is 0 and Nitrates are between 5-10 should i add a clean up crew? or do you think i should wait till i get back form my vacation? I leave on the 15th and get back on the 22nd... and any help with the pH thing.. the ACjr is reading it at 8.52(now its 8.50) any reason it would be high? is that part of the cycle? will it fall? should i do a water change ? tia!!!

Re: Althea's 90 Gallon.....

I was glad to help Sarah!

Have you verified your pH reading with another test kit or pH meter? I would suspect you are getting an erratic reading. It could have calibrated wrong or it could be reading wrong now. The pH probe can be thrown off by other electrical fields such as a pump that is in the same area as it. Also, make sure the wire from the probe doesn't come close to any power cords because the e-m field they generate could mess it up too.

I can't think of any reason it would go that high unless you added too much Kalk or buffer.

It does look like your cycle is over, but you may want to wait on the CUC just to avoid the stress of worrying about your snails while your on vacation.

ok... i will move my probe over...that could be the problem... caus ei have not added ANYthing to this tank... no buffers or chemicals at all... hmm.. i will move it and see if it changes.. if not, then i will re-calibrate it.....how long do you suggest leaving the probe in the calibration fluid.. like to just be sure... i left it in till it basically stopped changing numbers... but maybe it was just going really slowly and i didnt wait long enough... ok, ill try both of those things! thanks!
