| Watch this Ma! | Re: Terry's 120g money pit It's been a little while since I've posted a FTS. So, here it is. I'm starting to see some really good growth out of some of the corals. You can also see the monster RBTA. ![]() ![]()

| Watch this Ma! | Re: Terry's 120g money pit Since we are supposed to get an ice storm tonight, I went ahead and bit the bullet, ran to Lowes and bought a 6200 watt generator. I just finished getting everything wired up and ready to go. 60 amp breakers for the breaker panels, 10 gauge wire to the plug to plug into the 240v receptacle on the generator. Everything is ready to plug into the breaker panel. It's not automatic but I figure it doesn't need to be. Any time a storm is brewing, I'm home so I can maintain everything. It's also not big enough to run the whole house so I'll end up doing to "throw that breaker off, turn this one on" dance until electric comes back on. We really don't loose electric that often, in fact it's been about 3 years since it's been out for more then a few minutes, but I'd rather be prepared...

| Watch this Ma! | Re: Terry's 120g money pit Craig, surprisingly there really isn't that much room left anymore. You can't really see the Zoa colonies in the FTS but I have 7 different kinds in there and they are starting to spread like wildfire.

| Watch this Ma! | Re: Terry's 120g money pit Yeah Vicki, not to mention the inconvience from not having water, we have a well, no electric - pump doesn't work, no water. We don't realize how important water is to us until we can't get it out of the spigot.

| Watch this Ma! | Re: Terry's 120g money pit I've been thinking, should I be feeding my fuge some phytoplankton? I've been assuming that it is getting enough from what is sucked out of the tank via the overflow. Pods are so small that I can't tell how many are in there. The only indication that I can see that I have a good population of pods is that my mandarin is very plump. She has been in the tank for about two months now.

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Terry's 120g money pit The fuge should get what it needs from the return and the light. I've never needed to add anything and have lots of life in the fuge.

| Golden Moray | Re: Terry's 120g money pit Hi Terry... thanks for the nice comments on my thread... You have some sweet pieces in your reef... I see you have your Aussie acan and your blasto wellsi up high on your reef... how are they doing up there? I keep mine low in the tank... med to low light, med flow. What type of substrate do you have... fine sand or crushed coral? |

| Watch this Ma! | Re: Terry's 120g money pit My Aussies seem to love the high light. I'll try to get some pictures of them later when I feed. They seem to goggle up lots of food. Mr. Coral said they love lots of light. He had them under 400w XM MH and those lights are REALLY bright. For substrate, I have about 150 lbs of crushed coral. In the fuge I have around 200 lbs of argonite. Very fine stuff. I also have about 50 lbs of miracle mud in the fuge. I recently increased the flow through the fuge and my huge ball of chaeto is now tumbling just a bit. It's actually nice and green again. The thing is though, it did temporarily stir up the mud a little which ended up blowing around in my tank but today things are back to mostly clear again.

| Watch this Ma! | Re: Terry's 120g money pit Ahhhhh, great idea! After I survive Christmas, I'll go buy some of the very fine sand and give that a try. Thanks!
