Re: Althea's 28g Nano

question... i had what looked like pyramid snails... on my snails... does that make sense?!! do they go on snails? i thought they were a threat to clams, not snails. and if that is the case.. is there something i can do to get rid of them? i no longer have snails in my tank.. and i need to get more... but if the pyramid snails are just going to go on them, i wont add them right away. let me know. thanks!

Hi Sarah, is it really a pyramid snail or what I suppose rather, a Sundial? Pyramid Snails, or Pyrams are very small snails. They are generally white in color, have a slender shell that tapers to a point, and do not grow larger than a few millimeters. Sundial snails have a classic shaped shell that is round at the base and twists upward into a point and have a tan and brown coloration. Pyramid snails living on Tridacnia clams and Sundial snails on Zoanthus, Palythoa and Protopalythoa. Both can develop to a plague and it is better to remove them.

it was definitly pyramid snails....but i dont know where they are now... i dont have snails in my tank right now and NO clams. so how will i find them? or will they die without one of the others to feed on? the only reason i said it looked like maybe pyramid snalis... was because dont have a clam and they were on the underbelly of the snail. didnt know they went on snails.. but i looked up pyramid snails.. and that was them.. pure white.. TINY and pointed at the topand there were like 15 on one snail... thats all i saw of them. now that snail is no longer with us.. LOL

Wow! The tank looks awesome Sarah! Your corals are perfect. Well done! The prism skimmers work good for the nano's. Or you could go for a bigger bang for you buck with the tunze
Tunze DOC Protein Skimmers (Nano, Classic)
