Re: Bwlr's 92 Corner Tank

Found some new ricordea growth.

The wife and I didn't know what it was. It started out just a slimy green spot on the rock. I brought it closer to the front glass to see what it was and that's what I found. Several new ricordea.

We counted six.

Re: Bwlr's 92 Corner Tank

Ok...
Here's the new canopy.

And here's how it got there.

Here's what I was using...
It's REALLY ghetto, but it worked and the wife didn't complain too much.

I'm so glad that I have something better to look at.

Plus, having actual reflectors in there instead of aluminum sheets REALLY makes a difference with the halides.

Re: Bwlr's 92 Corner Tank

I can imagine how the 250's & some good reflectors really lighted the place up. What are the other 2 fixtures? The hood is just the right size not to big & bulky looking.

Re: Bwlr's 92 Corner Tank

Those are my 55w actinics. Just to supplement.
I haven't gotten the 250's yet... I'm still running 175's.
I haven't had the extra $125 or so for new lights.
I built this hood from parts of the old 75 gallon hood and a little bit that I bought. I think I've got $40 in this hood. I had to get this hood done first... the other thing was too "jakey" looking.

Thanks Greg.
I'm not too crazy about how the wood filler took the stain, but I'm still learning this woodworking thing. Seems like it will be a nice hobby.

Re: Bwlr's 92 Corner Tank

Wood filler almost always takes stain differently. I usually try to camoflage the difference with a little oil paint. It's still noticable (unless I'm really lucky) but it's always less obvious.
