Re: BigAl's 10g . . .

I went to feed tonight and noticed a "glob" on the floor in front of the tank. Upon closer inspection is was my mandarin. Apparently she decided to take up flying ..... she was not "dried out" but well beyond revivable! Why oh WHY would she do this? I've had her over 6 months... she was fat & sassy and looked GREAT!!

Grrrrrrrrr

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: BigAl's 10g . . .

Not unless it was a POD! That tank is my "Frag Only" tank. She was totally alone in there other than a small clean-up crew, frags and LOTS of Pods...... grrrrr

Thanks Adam.

Re: BigAl's 10g . . .

aaaaawww, sorry Al!! I hate it when they do that... disease, fighting, eating problems... OK, they're fixable, you can DO something about it but it's SO FRUSTRATING when a perfectly healhty fish decides to inspect the carpet. *sigh*

Wow, you've got an amazing tank Allen. Jammed packed with color. I'm going to get me a shower suction container for frags too, great idea! But I see you've upgraded from that method

Sorry to hear about your mandarin They are truly beautiful creatures

Re: BigAl's 10g . . .

I wouldn't have thought they could get up enough speed to jump.
I'm mean really. They just kind of hover.
It's like saying I jumped my volkswagen beetle over another car.
It just doesn't happen in nature.
At least not without nitrous.
Was your mandarin on drugs?

Sorry about your loss. Total surprise all around.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Thanks. Yeah I upgraded from "Suction cups" because over time they lose their "umph" and don't suction as well. I like the Mag-Racks a LOT!! Go Mag-Racks and you wont regret it.

I don't know about NITROUS but I have been suplementings his diet with VIAGRA! Reckon that had anything to do with it?

I hear ya bout hovering. I mean she never even really picked up any speed EVER! She was just SO mellow. Honestly if she had been more "dried and wilted" I would have thought that a fish from my 90g was out because there's no WAY my mandarin would jump. WHY oh WHY!! But alas who are we to ask why?
