Re: My 110 gal Adventure

Cool new stuff! I'm not sure about the new additions, but it would probably be okay with the small clowns and good water changes!

Yeah I see what your talking about now, its just some wierd coloring on the concrete floor- I didn't do anything to it. I guess they just knew it would be an aquarium room in the future.

Re: My 110 gal Adventure

Well I decided to hold off on the Onyx clowns until a later time and went with another of the fish on my wish list. Its a Foxface that has the black spot near the back of it. I've wanting on of these fish for a long time and have never seen one with the spot for sale before, so I decided to get that and a Diamond Watchman Goby along with some more Live Rock that the owner discounted $2 a lb to $5. So the 2 fish and 11 lbs of rock later I was on my way home.

Re: My 110 gal Adventure

Very Nice I have the foxface without the dot and the diamond goby as well. The goby is fun to watch and loves to burrow under the rocks. My fox face I call "Spike" because he keeps extending his fins when i walk past the tank too fast. Also the foxface will change colors and become blotchy by the rocks trying to fit in. I'm sure you will enjoy both of them

Yeah the Goby is fun to watch when its out and about and the foxface are cool when they flex their spikes out. My foxface will change colors every once in awhile when he seems scared. He will kinda hide in the rocks and turn into a black / white camo.

Re: My 110 gal Adventure

Well I went to one of the LFS last night with my roomate just to pick up some misc. frozen food and I ended up seeing this cool little starfish they just got in. I ended up impulse buying it (Don't usually do that) and the kid working there threw in a small frag of free Zoas that were just down in the sand. Yeah! my first corals. I was gonna wait a little bit before I bought anything like that because I'm not sure if my lights are good enough, but I guess it will be a good test to see since they were free.

Re: My 110 gal Adventure

Zoas are relatively low light corals so it should be fine. Congrats.
What kind of starfish did you get?

Re: My 110 gal Adventure

So after acclimating the star and the coral frag, I glued the zoas to a smaller piece of rock I had and put them in the tank. This morning when the lights came on a couple of polyps have already opened. Keeping my fingers crossed that they do ok, otherwise I'll probably transfer them to my roomates tank. Now for the couple bad pics I took this morning.

I looked it up and found it on LiveAquaria listed as a Red Sea Star (Fromia milleporella) but its more of a orange with black spots, perfect for Halloween LOL!

Re: My 110 gal Adventure

Well I forgot my camera here at work so I'll post pics tomorrow, but the zoas are now all open and looking happy so far. They are two different colors some green centers and a few orange ones too.

Re: My 110 gal Adventure

Well I finally got a chance to take some pics this weekend along with getting some upgraded lights, making a hood for the lights and doing some organizing.
Here's the free zoa frag that I got last week, bad pic, but the best I got

Re: My 110 gal Adventure

Here's the pics and the story behind the new lights. My roomate ended up buying three sets of Tanks/stands/lights from a local pet shop that was getting out of the fish business. So he lent 2 sets of lights for my tank, so I now have 8 Coralife Power compact lights on my tank @ 65 watts each for a total of 520 watts. I've still got a few things to the hood like paint and few small things but its fully functional now.
Heres the pics of that.
