Re: 240

Dude, could be a bacterial bloom in you too. Go see the doc, if it's what's going around you might need antibiotics.

Re: 240

Maybe because you feel like crap your vision is blurry. If we had pictures we could help verify if your tank is cloudy or not.

Have you added any LS or LR? If not, bacterial bloom sounds unlikely. I was under the impression that you added Ro/DI water over a few days, then salt and the cloudiness has not subsided. You raised the temperature and it still didn't subside. What else have you done?

Sorry to hear that you're still feeling bad. Maybe you just need to take a break for a week, do nothing but rest, give yourself a chance to fully recover from this.

I disagree .... This is not a a bacterial bloom, that’s precipitation there the salt in too cold water was dissolved. To dissolve the salt and the precipitations add 1 litre of sparkling mineral water on 100 l of aquarium water. You will see, the water will become crystal-clear in short time. The carbonic acid does not damage at all, believe me Michael... it works.

Mike:

Regarding the marco rock... i am going to be giving mine a muriatic bath when I receive it. I have heard of people doing this with base rock with great success.

Re: 240

Thanks Heinz I will try that tommorow. I know that it is not a bacterial bloom, as I have not put anything in the tank besides water and salt mix.

Well I ordered my rock earlier. I ordered a little less than I planned on. I ordered 30 pounds of kaelini, 30 pounds of timora, and 60 pounds of tonga fusion. To ship all 120 pounds of rock it only cost me $80.00

My marcorock will be here next week. I guess next week will be spent aquascaping, and building rock towers. I am so excited.

Wow! Where did you order it from? I'm starting to look around for rock but I'm still a few weeks away from placing the order.

I have been looking at different methods of reducing nitrates and phosphates.
Here are a feew things that I am considering adding to my tank. Tell me what your opinions are on them. Thanks

Re: 240

I have tested this kind of reactor for my FO more than 6 months. However, sulphur filters are very dangerous but very efficiently. If it comes for which reason always (there are many conceivable reasons), to a nitrate limitation, poison materials are delivered to the aquarium and it can lead in very short time to a fish death. If you can test the water, running off from the filter, every day …. a good filter. If one does not have this time ALWAYS and every day, I would not use this kind of filter.

A good and save alternative one is a combination of two phosphate filters. One filled with ROWAphos, the second with activated carbon. So that become phosphates as well as poison materials filtered. Against a higher nitrate value I would apply the vodka method. She is foolproof and damages with right and careful application neither fish nor corals. I use both already for many years and my values you can read up in my Thread. BTW ... I feeds my animals 3 times per day almost exclusively on krill, Artemia, Bosmiden, Mysis etc.. I always have a little nitrate and also minimally phosphate in the aquarium, but exactly this minimum amount is important especially if one liked to maintain SPS corals. You have asked according to our opinion, this is my opinion.

Re: 240

Thanks Heinz. I had no idea about these filters that is why I asked. I think the Dual Phosphate filters sounds like a good Idea.
