I had an experience like Al. I fractured my hand really bad, basically folded in on itself. I knew it was broken, since it was folded in half...
Went to the emergency room (it was 11pm), Saw the doc, got xrays, they said yup it's broken, told me that I needed to see an orthopedic surgeon. I assumed that the emergency room would set the hand or soemthing, all they did was x ray me, put a splint on my hand gave me a bottle of codine and a phone number for the orthopedic specialist.
I call the orthopedic specialist in the morning and explain I have a broken hand and the hospital told me that you guys would fix me up. They tell me earliest we can see you is Thursday (two more days). I assumed that meant it was fine to walk around with a splint and broken hand for two days since I explained to them what happened. When the doctor saw me he reamed the receptionist out for not scheduling me to come in immediately to get my hand set because of the chance of infections etc.
I could hear him down the hall yelling at her.
On a side note, there was a guy in the same room as me when I got the bones set, he threw up when he heard my bones popping when they set the bones. I can't imagine getting larger bones set in place like your femur...

Elbows suck. I bent mine 90 degrees in the wrong direction playing soccer. Dislocated, ripped the tendon in half, tore all the ligiments and chipped the growth plate. Funny thing is my body went into shock as soon as I hit the ground and I never felt a thing untill they put my elbow back into place.

Same thing with my knee playing football. Bent it 90 degress out to the side, dislocated the knee cap, cracked the knee cap in half, tore all ligaments, and tore some cartlidge. I drove the hour home after wards not feeling a thing. Woke up the next morning and it was swollen and I couldn't move it much but it wasn't painful. Never knew the extent of the damage untill I went to the ER the next day.

Point is its better to be safe then sorry. Just because you might not feel anything at the moment that doesn't mean theres nothing wrong.

Well, this morning I think I am going to die!!
Still very swollen, and now IT HURTS!!!
I am going to the ortho today around lunch. I hope everything is ok. But I guess if it was the swelling would have subsided. It has now been swollen for two days. While I am out I will be getting some stain and polyp for the stand. Tonite I WILL get something done

In all injuries, pain and swelling develope and highten within the first 48 hours. Swelling and pain, not improving after 48 hours should be looked at by a doctor.

Michael, I loce it! You are in pain, you are going to see a doctor and you are going to pick something up for the tank while you are out!
