Michael, you're looking at the new LED stuff? Isn't that as powerful as the MH?

The system that I am looking at is supposed to have the same PAR as a 400 watts MH. I want to go LED to illiminate heat issues. In the long run it will save me money. No Chiller, Bulb Replacement, High power bills, etc.
I am looking into the 72" unit. I hope my corals like it. I have heard that coral growth under these lights is great. I guess we will see.

I have been trying to decide what type of aquascaping I am going to do. I have a few Ideas, but I need a little help. I know that I want to have a turbulent reef "crest" and a calmer bay area. I dont the calm are to be dead, i want enough current to sweep up all the nasties, but calm enough for shrooms and LPS. I plan on having the mid to upper parts of the tank 90-100 percent SPS, and the lower areas LPS, Shrooms, and Polyp dominated. Does this sound like a good idea or not. And how can I accomloish this. i want some archways and caves as well.- Michael

Powerheads pointed to one end and towards one another might work... as for aquascaping, I vote for open sandy areas (not all rock).

I seem to find a few big rocks as anchors with smaller ones epoxyed together are good, you can make any shape you want. Downsides are it's permanent and you have to sit there and wait for the epoxy to set.

Hey everyone. Just an update. The filter system should be finished this week. I am in the process of designing the rock layout. I want it to be natural looking, but at the same time have some artistic elements to it as well. I do NOT want a solid rock wall. It looks to fake to me. I will probably order the tank here in the next few weeks. Then rock,Gah I will need so much rock. If anyone has any ideas on a cool aquascaping design let me know.

Cool! How about 2 or 3 large island mounds! maybe some bridges connecting them would look awesome, but that might not look as natural like you want it.. Have you decided on the fish you want to keep? PS I hope you sell all of your delicious frags!

I definatley want to have some open areas. Actually the island with bridges thing, is exactly what I was thinking. I want to have many archways and a few caves. As far as fish go, I will kep all of my current fish, and probably get some fairy wrasses, and anthias. Im just not sure what kind yet.
