Re: 240

They are from Tennesee. It's a HUGE tank and not one that's easy to transport.

I probably wont buy from them regardless of the outcome due to really crappy customer service.

Hang in there buddy. They may surprise you (and us) and offer to replace it and you're only problem would be the time it takes to build and replace.

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Re: 240

The driver siad that I needed to take the tank. Then I could call in to the owners for a solution. I thought that was kinda wierd, but thats what I had to do. It is right at the seam, it worries me, but I have had several people look at it. They all said that I should not be a problem. My uncle owns a glass company, and he installs all sorts of glass. Im going to see what he says about it. I hope that GC will take care of the problem. But me and my dad have talked, and we know what we are going to do, it they dont reslove the issue.
Although, all of this has irritated be badly, and their service IS TERRIBLE, they really do make high quality tanks, and stands. Other than the chip the tank is awesome as is the stand. You can tell they are both quality. I just wish the quality aspect was apparent in the service department.

Re: 240

Michael, if you haven't already done so, write a diaretical journal of every communication from the time this venture started. Add to it as the days pass and document every thing that transpires between you and them. This will be a very important exercise as this thing progresses and if push come to shove.

That's a wicked chip in a very bad place. You can't brace it with out a huge eyesore and as Jack said, could be weak enough to fail if repaired.

Excellent idea Craig. I'm a "Note Nerd" and am always taking note of conversations, who I talked to, what was said, time/date etc etc.

What's done is done but I honestly think I would and you would now looking back have refused the tank on the truck and let them deal with it. Hey worse case is ROAD Trip and you can visit some really cool LFS's in Tennessee

Re: 240

Ok one more day before I cna find out soething on my tank. Im sick of waiting. But I have been getting other needed stuff for my tank.
I got heaters, Carbon (SeaGel), Plumbing supplies, eggcrate(was for a Jose Barrier, now I may be trying to fing another route) to build platforms for my frag tank.
Today I am ordering a RO/Di untit from the filter guys. OCEAN REEF + 1 FIVE STAGE 75 GPD RO/DI It has a dual TDS Meter.
Here is the link, mine is the 4th one down:
RO/DI Systems

I called Jeff @ LifeReef to get information on a calcium reactor. I think I have found the one I want.
I am going to get the LCR2
Lifereef Filter Systems
I aslo spoke with him about building me a custom refugium. I am going to be running low on space once I get everything, so I want a refugium that is as low-pro as possible. I am thinking about having a refugium that fits up against the right side. 6 inches wide, 24 inches long, and 30 inches tall. This will allow me to take up as little space as possible.

I have to talk with my dad today, we are going to be ordering my Solaris soon, and my two Vortechs. All of which I will be ordering from Jack.

Re: 240

I saw one that was 6 inches deep. The guy had Mangroves growing in it. It had Macro algea (mainly Caulerpa). He used Clams as a natural filtration, He had tons of them. Also in the fuge there were any feather dusters. It did look really cool. I have alot ofroom arounf the tank, just not under it.

Re: 240

It was really cool looking. It was a rimless tank, with the MH fixture hanging from the cieling.

Re: 240

I find myself looking into my fuge almost as often as looking into my Display Tank. Granted it's only a HOB fuge but there is just so much LIFE in there it's cool to watch. I am ALL for a "Display Fuge".

Good work Michael. I am anxious to hear what Tom has to say tomorrow.

Re: 240

I wonder If I could cut out a "window" in the right side of my stand. Then I could put the tall refugium there.

Re: 240

Probably so if it's just "sheeting" and not structural. Depending on how my new fuge "looks" I may have a "Viewing" door made for my stand that will allowing ease of looking at my fuge.

It is thick furniture grade plywood. I have a guy who works for us that is great a wood working. I think that he could do it easilly. Gah, more money for me to spend, but I really like the Idea.
