Re: 240

Not sure about where you are but when I picked up my tank from GC I figured I would be the only one there & there were actually 4-5 other peolpe there picking up tanks as well. So I think there pick locations are preset & people come from all directions to meet them. I know when they do the Chicago trip they meet at that same gas station everytime. To be honest driving 2 hrs to pick up a custom tank is much better than having a tank shipped.

Yes they have pre-decided stops that they have been doing for a good while. I would like to see them be a bit more flexible especially with all the WEB attention they are getting just from here. I might drop them an email asking them to look more into RS.

Way to go Mike. I'm getting SO excited for you buddy. Be sure to have some LIFTING buddies on hand to help lift that bad boy into your vehicle and OUT when you get back. Take MORE guys than you think you need because that bear is HEAVY!!

Did you get your egg-crate? I left you some links and I can take a picture of what I have if you need it.

Re: 240

Better work out to get in shape for the big lift! You'll need 2 or 3 guys to safely move that tank as it will weigh about 450 - 500 lbs. Moving blankets and furniture dollies may come in real handy.

Re: 240

OOOOOO oOOOOO OOOO! Post pics when you get it!!!

I have found myself watching picasso triggers because they're so pretty. Don't think you want that in the tank though. I say get some wrasses for looks and something for personality. You're going to be staring at this for a long time.

Re: 240

Thanks everyone. I already have several people lined up to help me get it. I am getting so excited. I will take pics as soon as I get it. I want to have pics of every single step. This will make a neat chronicle. I want to be able to look back in a few years from now on the whole process.

Re: 240

Ok the tree hugger part of me has emerged. I think that in my new tank I am going to TRY to only do frags. I want to try not to put any wild colonies into this tank. First off, due to the fact the worlds reefs are diminishing. Secondly due to bugs I could bring in. If I only buy Frags, Particularly Drs foster Smith frags and a few others, I will greatly reduce the chance of me introducing any unwanted pests. I think that I could make a great tank with frags, plus they seem to grow sooo much faster than wild caught specimens. Whatcha guys think?

Re: 240

I just talked with glass cages to find out when my tank was built. It was finished on the 22nd of Oct. So that means that I only have to wait......... a little over a when from tommorow to put water in it. I am so stoked. They siad wait four weeks.
Now its really time to get down to business. I have to get the stan and canopy stained, the plumbing done, the floor supported(still havent done that)
and get some crucial items ordered. I guess this will be a busy upcomming weekend.

I am going to be ordering rock here in the next few weeks. I have picked out what I want. But I dont know how much to get. I want to have plenty of space for the fish to swim, and for the coral to grow. But on the other hand I want enough rock for good Bio-Filtration.

I am planning on having two main Rock "islands" connected by an archway. Plus in the two front corners I want to have a rock column. I saw this in a really nice SPS tank and it looked amazing.

How much rock?
