ps the tank looks great! isn't it fun to finally have water and rocks in there?

I'm too old for damsels anyway, Barb. They run faster than I do. And they mean it.

You mean I was SUPPOSED to put water in this thing? All this time?

Re: Labor of Love. I hope.

OK. Patched and pumping.

I am a little disappointed. I allocated too much space the fuge....Skimmer size was fixed, so I skimped on the baffles and pump space. As a result, I get lots of microbubbles when I run full out. Turning the ball valve on the pump down cuts my flow alot. I think I will need to replan the sump at some point...lower, longer, wider baffles.

In the meantime, I'm ready for mermaid in the tank. Where do I order one of those?

Re: Labor of Love. I hope.

Still got a ton of micro bubbles. I think it's coming from the return lines dumping into the sump. I cut the return pipes too short and they are dropping water the last inch before the water line in the sump. I will need to play with this. Noisy too.

When I broke down my curing tanks and cleaned everything up to place in my sump, I had to replace my sedra3500 on my g2 and I cleaned my skimmer. Now I feel like my skimmer is breaking in again, and I am having a hard time adjusting it.

I will be doing some small rescaping to mask the frame better.

Re: Labor of Love. I hope.

Lights are great Scott. I'll send you a PM.

I built the rock frame to hold the rocks off the sand for circulation, and then I aquascaped in the clouds. Now I need to re-scape to cover the frame. I don't want to have rock right up to the front of the glass, so I will need to work this through one rock at a time.

John

Re: Labor of Love. I hope.

John, I forget how big your sump is, but check out Greg's (framerguy's) chronicle, Awkareum...

he has a great sump muffler design that works really well. It cuts down on bubbles AND noise.

Shoot him a PM if you want to know more about it. I have one in my sump and I'm sold on it.

Re: Labor of Love. I hope.

My sump is 30 x 18 x 12. I used the first 12 for the g2, 3 for baffles, 6 for the pump and 9 for the refugium. I think most of the bubbles are because I cut the drain pipes too short and they are dropping water above the waterline of the sump. I will fix that first, and then play with the skimmer to fine tune it.

It's tough to tune a skimmer when you have no poop to skim.

Re: Labor of Love. I hope.

OK, extended the drain pipes below the waterline of the sump and I still have a ton of bubbles. I assume I am getting some air into the lines somewhere...possibly where I had the leak yesterday. I see alot of bubbles in the sump, but I also see alot coming out of the pressure side.

I am not going to fix this tonight.

Re: Labor of Love. I hope.

LOL.

Was considering gas-x.

I read on wetweb last night if you suspect a venturi leak in the pressure side to smear vaseline on the joints and see if it goes away. I don't see a drip when I turn off pumps, but that doesnt mean there isn't a pinhole venturi suction.

Looking at my baffles I am definitely seeing some bubbles swim down the bubble trap, so that is part of the problem; However I think I am seeing more bubbles come out the return pipes than are in the pump chamber.

I will play with vaseline tonight.

No wisecracks Barb.

I promise, no wisecracks!

I had the Dreaded Microbubbles. My problem was the anti-siphon holes in the elbow right behind the locline in the return into the tank. I forget how your return is set up, and I'm too lazy to look.

I put my finger over the anti-siphon holes, and VOILA no bubbles! My fix was to replace the elbow with one with no holes. My sump is huge so it can take the water that would siphon when the power fails. (Yes, I'm bragging about how big my sump is.)
