Re: Octoman's 55 gallons of euphoria

Thanks Scott!

My phosphates are now holding at < 0.03.

I started turning the skimmer off during the day a few days ago, so I'll be monitoring for any changes in water quality.

I also started running a filter sock on the overflow. The water seems to have cleared up substantially after doing this, I never realized how much was floating around.

I installed a heater in the sump for the winter, I'm paranoid about heaters so I've got a Visitherm with an internal therm hooked up to a Finnex heater controller for redundancy in case one goes bad.

Looking good

Seems we have similar taste... chromis, yellow tang, fire fish, toadstool, rhodadactis, and xenia.

That tang is a beaut. Nice and sleek. For some reason I really want to pet them. Dunno why. They have really neat faces too.

Great work Mark!! Tank looks AWESOME!!

Did you happen to notice any "critters" in the cheato you got from me? I was looking the other night and mine is FULL of snails and tiny starfish not to mention a LOAD of pods.

Great video Mark.
I like the soundtrack too from Sarah McLachlin's Remixed album.

Thanks everyone! I love the tang, she really has a lot of character and seems to get along well with everyone.

I haven't spotted any stars or snails yet, but the Pods are having a party in there. It's fun to watch them scoot around too, they're really fast!

I love that album Jeff, I've got an Uberzone remix of Sweet Surrender on vinyl that is my favorite of all. I need to get my vinyl transferred over to CD (don't have turntables any more )

I thought I'd mention again that I still haven't seen the pistol shrimp. Some nights its ridiculous how loud he clicks, but he never shows himself. I've tried using food to lure him out, but no luck yet. He's been in there since the first shipment of live rock (about 4 months now). I think maybe I'm just going crazy and the clicking is in my head...

Re: Octoman's 55 gallons of euphoria

I have read that those with pistol shrimps may never see them.

My 2 mantis in the display tank.have gotten bigger and are more active. I have even caught a sight of them complete out of their rocks. Mantis #3 in the sump should have a new home soon. A local reefer (Fishnu here on RS) wants to take him.
